Basic WAP text browsing over GPRS?

I was wondering...

Is it possible to do simple, text-based WAP browsing (over GPRS) on the P800? I'm thinking of something like how the SE T65 worked - just 'old school' WAP, but still over GPRS.

I don't always want to do full internet (using Opera) and the built-in browser isn't what I'm looking for either.

I think that because the P800 supports WAP 2.0, I'll always get downloaded pictures and what-not. But my T65 (using WAP 1.1??) was great for those WAP sites that just gave you straight-to-the-point text. Like Ananova...or BT's directory enquiries WAP site.

Looking forward to any help you guys can provide - thanks!

I have two accounts set up under "Wap Accounts" in the control panel. One dial up, the other GPRS. Set GPRS as your prefered. Then, using the P800's native browser, under preferences, you can tell it not to download images. I think that should do what you are looking for.

yes, though the browser is 2.0 instead of the basic 1.0 or the slightly updated one 1.1 which was on ummm, like 7650's supporting colors so either way, you'll get better appearences of the wap sites whether you like it or not, the connection however, i have wap csd and gprs seperately, though my wap isn't included in my everytime 200 allowance so i never use it.

Thanks for the replies. Yeah, this seems to be as close as I can get to a text-only browser.

I'm not sure if a WAP 1.1 browser would be available for download anywhere? It's a nice way to keep GPRS costs down.

Cheers!
