Backup question

Hi

I got my P800 perfectly running at the moment and I want to conserve this status in a backup. But I don't like SE PC Software Suite (total bloatware) at all.

I there a way to do a local backup to MS Duo with an application installed in the phone? Such backup tool are a common tool on any PDA. My Ipaq has PocketBackup which can backup to SD-Card and restore after a hard reset. Is there such a tool for Symbian P800?

Or can I make a manual backup to MS Duo? I mean, is it possible to simply copy the whole C: Drive to a dir on the MS Duo and than zip it so I would have backup this way. After a master reset the contents of this zip could be transferred back to c: overwriting existing files. Would this work?

Please help.

Unfortunately, and despite many pleas, nobody has produced a useful alternative backup program yet.

It is possible to copy stuff around, but you would need some as-yet unwritten software to overwrite the open files on C: when you try restoring.

Your best bet is to suffer the software that comes with the phone, but either use a proper USB connector, or backup via BT or IR. The cable that comes with the phone is serial, it only looks like a USB.

You can find out more about copying files around manually by doing some searches on this forum.
