has anyone on this forum (or anywhere on the planet) actually got their p800 connected to their pc via bluetooth to do file transfers?....or is it just me that has given up all hope of this little luxury??

please let me know, so at least i will be happy in the thought that someone has.

if i have to see another message on my pc saying "failed to connect to serial port - may be in use" - or the damn pc connect arrows working for 2 seconds then not working....i will throw my p800 out of my 7th floor flat...!

i feel better now, thank you.

Works absolutely fine. Sounds very similar to a problem I had. Turned out the P800 was trying to use the same COM port as my modem was already assigned to. Uninstalled the modem, hooked up the P800, re-installed the modem et voila!

if your having problems with the same ports that are in use, the way i finally resolved it was to reformat the computer and then install the p800 related software in first before anything else, i didn't reformat my computer especially for this as it was just full of junk folders which i needed to get rid of anyway, but in the end, i got my sony pc suite working and everything like that.

the damn thing connects but drops its connection half way through a file transfere...any advice pls.

Well you can always do a search on this problem in this forum. It's filled with answer that have been asked long time ago.😛

thanx for the advice, i have a tecom dongle, but there does not seem to be any new drivers on the site...also i was going to update the wincomm driver as suggested by a previous thread search but someone advised me not to....could it be the case that there is a limit on the size you can transfere?

no way ...😱
no such thing called limitation on size transfered, guess it's only a matter of some hardware conflicts or missing related files in windows.

ok I'll suggest trying it on any of your friends' PCs, and prefferably if it's Windows XP. this way u'll know if it's duo to driver mismatch or not!

as the tecom website does not seem to have the drivers, is there any drivers u suggest i use?

as said in their website (http//:www.tecom.com.tw) the dongle supports Win 98SE/Me/2K/XP, so no problem should b with your OS.
found some drivers and software files in the US site, u may check it out! and in the following links u'll find some other people suffering also 😛

check these sites:

try to find newer ver. of Widcomm software, maybe it'll help! as far as I know the latest one is 1.3.2.7

if none helped u can download this file ftp://216.180.107.234/Anonymous/T68_T39_BT3030FAQs.pdf , it'll help u setup a connection with ur mobile (I hope 😊 )

nope, i totally give up and will just use the memory stick usb adapter to transfer file to and from pc....thanx for the help and links though.

hey don't give up so easy 😞
I think there'll be a way, try contacting customer support for your usb bluetooth!
or even you can other people that have the same device!

otherwise I suggest u buy a different one 😃

I have a similar problem to you I am using a 3com DT pcmcia card. The problem of dropping out happens when using wifi if i put the phone right next to the bt card and the laptop near the wireless router all is ok but if i try to move either more than 1 m away i either get bt dropouts or wifi loss, are you using wireless ethernet or anyting on the same frequency???

havn't used wireless ethernet with bluetooth at the same time, but I'm sure that won't affect, cuz they are on different frequencies 😕
anyway I suggest try to use your USB Bluetooth on a different PC that doesn't have a wireless LAN, and try to move the phone away, it if works, then there shoulb be something wrong with the wireless LAN ... (I guess) 😊

my wireless is the old 11mb one which is on the same freq and doees affect each other i assume the new g standard is better
