Multi Bitmap Editing

While I have seen some dead links on this site regarding icons and skinning the 9290, i have yet to pick up on any existing community for creating graphics for the communicator. I have used MBMview, but the images only seem to show up grayscale on the device, and I cannot seem to figure how (if it's actually possible) to view more than the first frame of any given .mbm.
SO I reach to you, communicator skinning community, or graphic design community - what are my options?

Not sure about communities, per se, I think people tend to just do stuff on their own, unless they're skinners like the Loonyworld lot.

There are a couple of tools available for creating & manipulating MBMs, though. You could get RMRArt, which lets you create MBMs from scratch actually on the Communicator itself. It's a cute little program, rather like Paintbrush on the PC, & surprisingly powerful.

Then there's the usual DOS program, for which Dazler has written a groovy Windows-compatible front-end, called MBMWhizard. You can convert common standard graphics formats to different frames of an MBM & then save the thing as a one-file bundle. Dazler was updating his website, but he did post a direct link to the appropriate files somewhere in the forums for me a few months back. An archive search should turn it up. It might've been under one of the OPL forums.

For quick viewing of multiple frames of an MBM, you can use MBMWhizard on a PC, or the standard image viewer on your Communicator. Open the MBM file, & then use hotkeys Ctrl-N & Ctrl-Y for going forwards & backwards between the frames.

I dunno if any of the above directly answers your question, but I hope that at least some of it's useful...

The biggest problem at this time is software based...

All of my skins have single layered .mbm files, simply because there is no MBMwizzard for the Mac. And since nobody takes the time to create such and app.... all we have is MBMwizzard.

BTW, what dead links are you talking about? My links are all still functional... so the tutorial, MBMwizzard as well as all my skins are stil available.
