As I see this "forced" n-gage mania, i just regret that not all the phones have a launch like this. nokia may sell more 6600 phones than n-gage's, but we don't have a release date for it. I think Nokia, as well as other manufacturers should inform their customers when will it be really available, so you won't live in a permanent anxiety (bad english?)
shame
From Nokia's website: Available:
Planned in the 4th quarter of 2003 😉
Yes, they always say "planned in the _th quarter of 200_". Thats not very clear and in most cases they didnt even released the phone by the end of the announced quarter. With the N-Gage they are pretty clear and say 7october. Worldwide. Why cant they do that with all the phones they release?? Give an excact date and not somewhere between 3 months.
royal21 got the point...
Guys,i was only joking about the release date.It would be great if phone makers can give the potential buyers a clear release date but IMO that will never happen. There are too many factors that can suddenly change in the process of developing/producing an advanced Symbian smartphone like the 6600,thus causing delays.
Remember the p800?It's release was delayed for almost a year because Sony suddenly decided that they wanted a memory stick slot.
The N-Gage is a different story. Its not just a phone.Nokia has to push this one as hard as they can. With the N-Gage they are entering a in a new market where old-timers like Nintendo and Sony have been dominating for years.
Oops, didnt realize you was joking 😊
I understand your explanation, i guess you got it right. It is more frustrating if they give an excact date and then delay the release, because of some adjustments. This kind of anouncements gives them some "room" and releaves them of the pressure of a deadline.
Ghostdog I understand what you say also. Obvious reasons, but, still they could be more specific. If they did it with n gage, they could do it with the others. why do they rea djust phones, and didn't readjust n gsge? Simply because they only release the models until they want to. That's why.
I tend to disagree.Even with all the focus on the N-Gage,the launch was set for today, but its nowhere to be found in shops.Nokia is number one phone maker but its no one in the gaming business. They can delay phone like the 6600 but can't delay a product like the N-Gage because it might prove to be fatal them.
The best option would be like the A920's case. For almost a year there have been only vague rumours about its existance and a few inacurate photoshoped images. Then,Three announced it and it was released in the next couple of days.On the other hand, you will never know what to expect from the device.
here in Portugal is on sale everywhere!
I think that if Nokia shows their phones to release them a couple of days later, it would be good, but Nokia doesn't do that on purpose.
How many of you wanted to buy sx1 but when 6600 appeared thinked twice? Some at least. Nokia won on that. they don't care if the phone isn't released right away. They prefer to show it early and make people get anxious to have the phone..
In Mobile Technology business, product life cycles are quite short, I hope Nokia & Siemens realize this! When Nokia launched 7650, they were miles ahead of competiton. The same happened with Sony Ericsson P800. You could find a phone like those even after a year. I doubt whether the 6600 & SX1 will deliver the same standards. Maybe you will find Nokia releasing some other phone shortly after introducing 6600.
Keeping my fingers crossed😃
