hi all - i found a good deal on 256mb mmc BUT!!....
http://shop.store.yahoo.com/memx/xmm256.html
and i have firmware 3.16 in my 3650
i think its too late to return and when i pop it into nokia it wont recognize card, says no card inserted....but then i put it into palm m505 and it works fine...then i formatted card on palm and put it into 3650 still nothing.....did it a few more times and all the sudden card showed up in phone!! at 246 mb i think - then i tried to reformat the card using the phone format(saw that some people said to do this in forum) and it worked but then asked to me to rename card - no matter what name i put in it rejected it saying only alphanumeric chars..when i tired to use the card after format it said cant store on card..so i then removed card and tried to reformat again on palm but now no matter how many times i reformat on palm and insert into nokia it always says no card inserted....please tell me im not completely out of luck...if i were to waste my money on a card reader now and format with that would it solve problem? help cuz now im stuck with a mmc card that i dont need, i already have a 256 sd card for palm dammit,i cant see any other reason why nokia wouldnt rec this card and just the palm.
the 3650 doesn't officially support the 256mb card, but some cards seem to work. You seem to have bought one that doesn't. Surely you could try and get a refund?
sorry i don't think i read it right, I read it again and i guess my answer diesn't make sense. sorry
but my main question i guess is since i cant return it , if i were to buy a card reader for the pc and format the card on that, would the nokia have a better chance of recognizing the card? or was my palm test enough to know that the card is just incompatible..any productive suggestions appreciated - either i buy a card reader or i just forget about my 256 woes and settle for a 128mb..........
btw - i ordered a 256mb card on ebay from a guy named jdomo i believe, got link from this forum - dude was a scam, charged my card and never shipped product - so stay away from him if thinking about 256......such bad luck ive had trying to get a good 256 for the nokia 😞
from the link you posted
"The version which works with Nokia, 3300 3650 6600 9110 9210 9210c will be released in early November. This card will not work in Nokia. "
hmm seems they added that after i ordered so i guess they had other complaints...thanks for pointing that out to me.
Is this a case of cards will or will not work in a random fashion, or that only particular makes will work?
If the latter, how about some investigating to find which makes work?
Only particular brands of MMC's work. For ones that work,at least they are advertised as such, try here: http://www.tecic.com.tw/English/AboutUS.html
is there a website i can order from and be delivered through mail???????
