how to tell if your phone is locked?

Newbie question (and yes, I had a search through the forum)....

Before I call ATT and possibly make a fool of myself, HOW do I tell if my phone (Nokia 3650) is actually SIM locked? I bought mine direct from Nokia, (with an ATT service plan) and when I look at the security settings, I have the following:

Lock if SIM changed: NO
Confirm SIM services: NO

Which leads me to think that perhaps I don't need to call ATT, but can just slip in a UK SIM card next month when I go on hols.

Any answers?

these two option is just for security issue. For example when your phone is stolen and the stealer wants to change the SIM and the phone will lock up

As for the issue whether your phone is locked or not try to insert SIM card from other Operator. If it's works then no problem.

sorry to say but all at&t phones are locked if you got it in the U.S. customer service is really bad too if you want to try to unlock it. i had a friend who had the ericcson t68i and wanted it unlocked but to his dismay no success after 3 or 4 calls.

u should've gotten a t-mobile fone.....real easy to unlock!one email and they gave me the process and unlock code for my fone.
