N-Gage Price Drop

8 replies · 4,486 views · Started 22 October 2003

Inside sources indicate that Nokia plans to drop the price of its new N-Gage game deck from $299.99 to $199.99 in order to combat reportedly sluggish sales. This news comes just a day after reports that the N-Gage sold less than 5,000 units across the United Sates during its first week at retail. Current retail promotions for the N-Gage such as receiving $100 off the system when purchasing two games along with it are rumored to end if the price cut is activated.
If the report that the N-Gage sold less than 5,000 units in the US on its launch week is true, a $100 price cut would be just the kind of aggressive action needed to stimulate sales. Nokia hasn't made a public statement regarding the rumored price cut yet, but we anticipate they will address this issue soon.

A MAN! IF THEIR GONNA BRING THE PRICE DOWN THEN HELL!!!!
THATS JUST UNFAIR FOR THE PEOPLE WHO BOUGHT IT FOR 299!!

SHIT

its not true =)

"The issue of price remains a major concern among prospective consumers and industry analysts. We asked Nada about recent rumors that Nokia is planning on lowering the price of the N-Gage, to which she assured us that they are untrue. Instead of a price reduction, gamers will continue to see retail promotions such as EB Games' $100 rebate upon the purchase of the game deck and two games. The N-Gage is quite a deal when compared to other cell phones which feature similar technology (MP3/radio playback, tri-band GSM network support, BlueTooth support etc.), but at the same time it seems too expensive to those who only compare it to the $100 Game Boy Advance. Oh that a good news. Because if Nokia makes a huge price drop like that ( 33% sale wow... ) this will mean that Nokia acceptts that they can`t compete with others... I still think it`s a good price for a CellPhone+GamingConsole hybrid...
