In light of the recent launch of the Sony Ericsson P900, which incorporates the latest version of UIQ, P800 owners have started a petition to Sony Ericsson requesting that they keep supporting the P800 by offering an upgrade to UIQ 2.1 for existing P800 users.
If you are a P800 owner and believe that Sony Ericsson should provide this kind of support, you can sign the petition here: http://www.petitiononline.com/p800/petition.html

[In p900] disk Z: containing the operating system and the UIQ software, has been expanded from 16 MB to 32 MB (about 25 MB of it is used by the current firmware
According to this UIQ 2.1 takes up much more space than UIQ 2.0, so maybe (even probably) it can't even be installed on the P800...

It isn't exactly the new version of UIQ that takes up all the ROM space in the P900, it's things like T9 dictionaries for 19 different languages, UI images being 65k vs. 4k in the P800 and more P900 spesific features that has NOTHING to do with a spesific UIQ 2.1 upgrade for the P800.
I'm sure SE could adjust UIQ 2.1 to fit in the P800 ROM chip, if they wanted to. 😊
i heard frome ericsson emplyi it is not possible becouse the rom memory on p900 its bigger so uiq2.1 dontfitts to p800
Nothing is impossible! 😉
And once again, the P900 ROM size has NOTHING to do with the P800 and any possible upgrade to UIQ 2.1!

And while you're at it, if you have not done it yet, I'd suggest you also sign the UIQ for Psion netBook Petition at http://www.petitiononline.com/nbookpro/petition.html.
Close to 2000 people have signed by now to pursuade Psion to release this potentially wonderful new product with Symbian OS v7.0 for professional users, developers and advanced consumers.
The main proposal is to base the netBook Pro user interface on a slightly changed version of UIQ, with the working name "UIn" (User Interface netBook), not the least to make use of the new netBook Pro's telephony and conferencing possibilities.

Maybe, but I think it would be hard to take at least 9 Mb out of a 25 Mb product, that would be a 36% decrease in size.
What is the latest standing on the UIQ2.1 on a P800? Will Sony help?
