Questions about UIQ...

Hi, there:

I got some problems with UIQ.

Please see the attachment picture.

Are these applications and windows all UIQ? Or some are of UIQ and some of Symbian? Is the main window, the outmost window, of Symbian or UIQ?

And is it possible to manipulate this system (as the attachment picture, include the applications of Agenda, Contacts) only by hardware keypad other than touch panel? I.e. If I got licensed from Symbian and UIQ, can I modify the source code to do this? Will they provide the source code?

We would like to use UIQ but we dont want to use a touch panel.

Thanks.

It's fair to say that all you can see on the emulators screen is UIQ 😊

UIQ is an implementation of Symbian OS7. The look and feel (and imput device) are specific to UIQ.

What you would want to do in your case is licence Symbian 7 from Symbian and then develop you own GUI which is specific to you device.

An example I can give is the P800 and Nokia 6600 - both are generally based on Symbian 7(S), but both have very different device/interface solutions eveloped by SE and Nokia.
