I am having a problem transferring files to my Nokia 3650 phone via the serial port connection in Nokia PC Suite. I first had a cheap generic USB dongle I bought from ebay and was experiencing the same problems with it as I am having now with the Belkin dongle. I was using driver version 1.3.2.7 with the generic one, and 1.4.2.10 with the f8t001. I also tried other versions of the widcomm stack such as 1.2.2.16 and 1.2.2.18. I have followed Belkin's nokia 3650 setup guide as well as Nokia's bluetooth and PC Suite instructions verbatim and this is still occurring. I can send and receive files just fine via the OBEX file transfer protocol, by right clicking a file>send to> bluetooth device or doing the same from the phone. When I establish a serial connection and start PC Suite, I can successfully download any file from my phone to my PC. PROBLEM: However, when I try to send any file from my PC back to the phone in PC Suite, even the smallest 1KB file, the transfer times out and nothing gets through. I have tried both dongles on 3 different PCs to no avail. I have also formatted my memory card and reset my entire phone to the default factory settings using the *#7370# code. My question is, is it possible that my phone might be physically defective? Has anyone heard of this problem or know of any solution?
PC Suite PC>Phone Problem
Hello...
Don't use OBEX file tranfer... simple connect your phone via Serial Port (maybe 3 and 4, like me), then open PC suite and tranfer everything you want to.

any question ask
Just wanted to give any future users a heads up on this. After an hour on tech support with nokia, they advised me they had never heard of this problem with ANYone and even escalated it up three levels. This goes along with the forums since I didnt get any useful response on 6 different forums. Anyway, I was able to get it resolved by obtaining a warranty replacement from AT&T. My best guess is that the firmware was corrupted somehow to not correctly support the serial port profile of bluetooth, since obex worked. So if anyone else has this problem, get a replacement and dont spend 2 weeks pulling out your hair trying to figure it out.

I am having the same problems with a cheap blue tooth adaptor mate, what did you change the phone or the adaptor?
just the phone was bad. I had no problems with the bluetooth dongle. i would suggest replacing the phone.

I can send files using OBEX file transfer though, would still say that the phone is at fault mate?
Thanks

re-read my original post. I could send obex files to and from as well, i just couldnt send any files to my phone through pc suite. so, i think it was a problem with the phones support of the serial port profile feature of bluetooth. It was definately a phone problem though. So if your phone is doing what i described in my original post, i would suggest replacing it.

I am having this EXACT same problem with my Nokia 6600,
i can get it connected eventually and i can transfer files from the phone to the PC no problem, but as soon as i try to transfer a file to the phone, it times out, then the whole program freezes, and i have to reset the pc to get it to work again, do you think that just getting the firmware updated will fix the problem or do i have to get the whole phone replaced.
buy an universal infra red adapter which should come a a cd for you to install the driver ...this should be a lot easier and will not hang you pc its a little cheaper than the bluetooth adapter
I would but ive already gone and spent my money on the adapter now, at least the adapter works for ma other phones S/E T610
I am having this problem, or something eerily similar, with my 6600.
If I try to send a file to the phone, it will only send the first 20kb, then it freezes up and that's that. I have to shut it down and restart it all.
It worked initially, I uploaded a few large programs and files onto the MMC and phone, but now this freezing problem won't go away.
I get a "file transfer engine failure" error message sometimes.
I can only assume that the FTP is setup wrong, and won't allow large transfers.
Another clue was in the PC suite readme file, that if anything tied up memory in the phone (running processes I suppose) that fiel transfers to the phone would fail.
my USB dongle is a cheap one off ebay, but it seems to be working fine. I'd already come to the conclusion that the error was occuring in the handset itself, which is not what I wanted to deduce.
I'm going to "try" to establish whether any of the programs I loaded onto the phone have hogged memory to an extent that transfers cannot complete, but think I may have to format and hope, or get a new phone.
Any advice appreciated! Pleeeeeeeeese feel free to email me at as I don't get the chance to check this forum often.
Hi,
I've the same problems with the Nokia 3650.
Now I want to buy a infrared adapter or a serial link cable. But with which of them does it work?
Could anybody give me a tip. I have a free serial link port and I can connect it easily with a cable. And if a cable is better (what I guess), which shall I buy?
I'm very happy of your advices.
Thanks,
