New EPOC-API available for tearing-free graphics support in Symbian OS v7.0?

Hi all EPOC game coders, I just downloaded bunch of public 2D-animation sample codes and documentation from Nokia Forum web site www.forum.nokia.com (from there follow link -> Mobile Games)

Now this popped immediately into my eyes: In the zip-file that I downloaded there was a documentation called 2DGameAnim_S60_v1_0.pdf. It claimes that there's some kind of Anti-Tearing API available in Symbian OS v7.0! Such thing surely hasn' been present in the past S60 devices like N7650/N3650. BUT my problem is that when I have tried to find documentation and sample codes about this new Anti-Tearing API for example from Symbian Developer Zone I haven't found any articles/documentation in fact anything at all about it 😞. So I would appreciate if someone could help me getting started on this one:

Does anyone know where can I find documentation and possibly some simple sample codes on this new Anti-Tearing API? Is it already supported and available in devices like Ericsson P800/P900 and Nokia 6600 since these three are based on EPOC v7.0 version? Is the Anti-Tearing API some kind of extension to existing Direct Screen Access mechanism?

Well I guess that I will not receive too much replies about the new anti-tearing graphics support in Symbian OS v7.0 after all 😞

Well anyone who is interested in games and graphics in Symbian powered devices I have some good and bad news. First the good news.

I downloaded the latest S60 v2.0 SDK from Forum Nokia, and there was one new class called CDirectScreenBitmap in one of the new header files in v2.0. Now in this class there was some TRequestStatus class type using methods present which effectively are named as EndUpdate (also BeginUpdate was included). So I suspect that these might be the ones that implement the anti-tearing graphics services in Symbian OS v7.0.

Then the bad news. I still haven't been able to find any documentation on this subject (nor about the new CDirectScreenBitmap) from the web 😞

So any comments/hints about this anti-tearing graphics subject are still highly wellcome 😊

Hi,

I am also interested in graphics. I too was (still am) searching for the documentation on Anti-Tearing API in Symbian. There is very less/none about it in Symbian website.
If anybody know about it Please guide us.

Regards,
Tim
