Does the P900 use the same screen protectors as the P800?
If not does anybody have any good sugestions as to what I should get and where?

As far as I'm aware, the screen dimensions on the two phones are identical. Certainly, expansys and others are selling P800 screen-protectors as accessories for the P900.

A quick search in the AAS P800 forum will give you the pro's and cons of the main protagonists. However, it largely comes down to the MartinFields if you want ultimate clarity but with some glare, or the Brando if you don't mind sacrificing some clarity for extra glare-reduction and a more paper-like feel whilst writing.

Bearing in mind the relatively low cost (relative to the cost of a P900, any way!), it may be worth getting both and seeing which you like best.

They are not identicle. The P900 has a strait edged screen, whereas the P800 is slightly curved. The P800 screen protector will fit but it will not cover the entire screen due to the curved edges.

are their any screen protectors then that are specifically for the p900? or do the companies just assume that they are the same (like expansys or something like that.)

I know its not very elegant but even Jessops in the UK sell generic screen protectors. I just got some of those, made a template from a business card and cut it out. Fits fine and will do until proper P900 screen protectors come out.

Better than risking a scratched screen in the meantime.

I will be doing the custom option until something better comes along

I got one from Brando. It's very thick. You lose some of the sensivity, especially if you 'write' from angle. I got one that say P900/P910. It fit quite nicely although there's about 1mm of the screen that is not protected.
