Strange caution sign error, but not the 10 sec one

First let me say this is not the 10 sec flashing error message that people have talked about before that requires a phone shut off.

Today for the first time, my phone made a beep about 5 sec into my conversation. when I looked at the screen, there was a yellow caution sign with the exclamation point in it on the bar above my call info next to the call length counter. The call did not disconnect, and I finished my call. I tested a call to several people and got the exact same thing. Nothing seems to happen other than the phone beeping and I get the little yellow sign. Does anyone have a clue what this is??? I found a very old reference on here back in april that talked about the same thing, but no one offered a solution other than saying something about the "Chirper" being turned off by the network??

I am going to try a reformat and reinstall everything just to be sure something is not corrupted.

Spoke to SE about this little error icon and found out that my network (T-Mobile here in the US) has turned off the "Cyphering" function that encrypts the phone conversations. The phone is just letting me know that anyone with a scanner can now hear my conversation.

it's great to know that SE really cares for the privacy of our conversations, so we now know if someone might b listening to calls we're making 😊

thanks kpence for this info😉

Yeah well, here is the problem. After speaking to T-Mobile about this and they ran tests on the tower my phone was connected too, and even disconneted me and let the phone reconnect to the tower the problem did not go away. T-Mobile's conclusion was that it is the phone. So I called SE back and sure enough my P800's software is now corrupted after several months of perfect use. I did a C: format and the problem remained. SE said that the software that is stored in the ROM that is used to place all system software back on a reformatted drive is also corrupt. This happened just all of a sudden.

So my phone is being shipped off the to ONLY service center in the US. But the good news is that they are going to do a firmware upgrade as part of the standard service and clean the phone. I was told if they couldn't fix it, I would get a new P800....I begged for a P900 and the woman giggled at me.

Oh and I was also told that those "over the phone" firmware updates, and the internet firmware updates were going to be soom made available for the P800!!

can't believe no one has caught what i said at the end of the above post.....PHONE/INTERNET UPDATES FOR THE P800 according to SE here in US.

if u've tried it .. share the experiance. 🙄

if u didn't ... sit with us here and wait till it's available and someone actually has it 😊
