Before installing the latest Sync SW, I'd like to know if it works better now ...
At work I use Outlook (XP) connecting to a Exchange environment, but previous versions of the Sync SW tended to duplicate entries all the time, making me stop using the sync function. At the moment, I'm using the phone as the "original", which means manually updating from appointments in the Outlook calendar. Tideous work ...
What do you guys think, should I give it another try? Perhaps these bugs are gone now? Experiences?
I have XP (SP1) and my phone has R2F, bluetooth R5A, Organiser R2B03 and CDA R1B02 ...
Cheers, Harry
My sync is worse now - it worked better on the previous version.
The synchronisation software is great. Nothing at all wrong with it. It's even better when you use the P900 pc suite software mentioned elsewhere. Its only possible flaw is that it can sometimes be a little slow. But not really. I think it's fab and use it daily. XP Pro SP1 and Outlook 2000.
If you were getting duplicate entries, it must be that you failed to set the software up correctly.
In order to prevent duplicates, prior to your initial synchronisation it is better that either the phone, or the Outlook data is clear. Otherwise, anything that is slightly different between the two will be handled as distinct and therefore copied across as new entries. It is easy to backup the phone with PC Suite and even easier to export your Outlook address book/contacts/notes/todo to a pst file if clearing any of these folders fills you with dread.
Make sure that you set the correct parameters within "Sync Station Settings" and select the appropriate options. Mine are set to;
Synchronise each time I connect my phone;
Conflict resolution selects "Last Changed Item";
When item is deleted in phone, all the relevant items are deleted in the computer.
Have fun and be brave little Noddy.
I upgraded to the new P900 version and whereas I could not get a connection using the old P800 software at all, it was a breeze to set up the new one.
As rb14 says, go for it, it can't be any worse!
Well, it seems as if I'm about to take a walk on the wild side ... 😊
I'll try to make it work, and then let you guys know the outcome.
Thanks for your comments and please keep your fingers crossed! It's a bitch having to update two calendars ...
