6600 or T900??

Guys

Help me out. I wasn't sure which forum to post on, as I guess there'll be a bias towards S/E or Nokia depending where I post, but I trust you to give your hoest opinions! (and I'll post this on the T900 forum too 😉)

I've had a N6600 for a few days now, and I'm not getting along too well with it. I've had Nokia's for the past 12 years, but this is the first Symbian phone I've had, so I'm not sure whether it's just a case of getting used to it, or if I'll never like it. First opinions:

* The data suite is useless, much worse than previous phones
* Batt life isn't good, maybe 2 days with a couple of hours of calls
* The navigation is very difficult. I suspect this is just a case of me getting used to it, but these days I expect something to be intuative enough for me to pick it up and start working with it.

Here's what I want from a phone:

  • Solid build quality (the 6600 is OK in this respect)
  • Decent handsfree phone (6600 not so good)
  • Good sync'ing with Outlook
  • Good UI, intuative, fast
  • poly/mp3 ringtones
  • decent camera
  • bluetooth (for a car kit)

At the moment I carry a PDA and a phone. I only use the PDA for contacts and diary, so I expect the phone to be able to replace these functions easy enough. The 6600 doesn't make a bad job of it once the suite is set up, but it's not awe inspiring.

So what do you think? I've had Nokia all my mobile life, and really do not want to change, BUT, if the P900 is the answer, then I will. I know many people that have had/got the T68i and T610 and whlst it's OK, it's no better, in truth, than the competing phone from Nokia, apart from maybe in build quality.

I'd love to hear your opinions, I can still return the 6600 and get the P900 for about 100 more.

* The data suit is not useless, its just more diffcult to setup.
* 2 days for a phone that has a colour screen, camera and a complex OS is all you will get.
* If the Series 60 UI is not intuitive enough or easy to use then the P900 using UIQ or any other Symbian smartphone is out of the question.Series 60 is simple as it gets.

My advice is: Keep your PDA and get a simpler Sereis 40 Nokia phone,7250i maybe?

Fair enough, I'll re-prase my comments -

The data suite is a radical departure from previous incarnations. A lot of the functionality (i.e. sending SMS via my laptop) is no longer there, but I accept this is a minor thing for most people. The sync'ing with Outlook seems very hit and miss; I've still not been able to get recurring appointments to appear on the phone from Outlook, I'm not sure why.

Regarding the other 2 points, I had a 7250i (and a 6610) for a couple of weeks before eBaying it - the build quality was appaling IMHO, though in fairness the software was pretty good.

I'm coming to the conclusion that it's just a case of getting used to it, so I'll give it another couple of weeks. My biggest annoyance right now is that they've moved the "c" button from it's usual location, so every time I go to delete a character in a test message, I end up deleting the whole lot! I'm not a serial texter by the way, I'm testing an SMS-based system for my company.

pwhite8314,If you wan't to stick with a Symbian device, you could also try the p900.I'm geting one as soon as possible but only because it suits my needs better then the 6600.The UI is more complex but its also more powerful(touchscreen).

IMO both, the 6600 and the p900 can probably replace your PDA,it just depends on what you use your PDA for.
