Aol Mail?

Ask AOL whether AOL mailboxes can be accessed using Internet standard protocols POP3 or IMAP4 and whether AOL has an SMTP server for sending mail.

If they don't support these, then you can't use the P900 built-in email functionality, which requires POP3 or IMAP4 and SMTP.

So, if that didn't work, your alternative options are either WAP or web browser based access. If AOL supports that, ask them for the correct URL's and direct your browser there.

aol doesn't support pop3 mail, you can access your aol mail by going to the website aol.com through opera or set up aol wap which will give you a special bookmark that gives you direct access to your inbox

How do you set up imap4. I can send emails using imap, but I can't get my inbox. Should I be using imap4 rather than basic imap? Please explain in simple terms? Thanks.

right.

this is what you do.

use imap 4.

address incoming, imap.aol.com
address outgoing, smtp.aol.com

put in your username and password as usual and use gprs connection and it should work.

i am experiencing problems sending e-mails this way - with the phone coming up with 'unknown error'.

you should also be aware that aol uses a port number 587.

I have tried that and it doesn't work. I can't tell it to use imap4. It just lets me use imap or pop3.

I have no problem sending, it's just that I can't receive emails.

Right! I tried this service for the 3 day free trial. Brilliant! no problems at all. I then paid 28 for the full version with licence. Now it's absolute cack. It keeps failing to connect. When it finally doesn't come up with a server problem, it downloads all 100 or so emails in a few minutes. 1-2mb @2.35 per meg. Then, next time it tries to connect, it gets some sort of problem again and loses all the emails. Great! When it does finally connect again, it downloads all the mails again, so that another fiver down the drain.
This software is a pure waste of money!
