Hi All,

My brother just bought me a 6600 from HK.

But I realise that the phone only support Traditional Chinese, and I cannot locate in any setting where I can set the language to English like other Nokia models.

Can someone tell me if the OS in my 6600 only support Chinese? Also, if it's true, then can I get Nokia service centre to Flash the phone with English software?

I called the Nokia service centre but they are not confident if the flashing will damage the phone.

Any info will be appreciated!

Sean

An authorized Nokia service center should be able to flash it all right to English firmware package. The hardware is the same everywhere (except for possibly colour or keyboard variations).

my 6600 supports english and our local language here. i hope i could also include chinese as one of the languages.

can it be done?

I was hoping to get English and Russian on one phone. Is there a firmware that does this?

I know my local service centers do have it yet, but maybe I could download it from somewhere and bring it to them for flashing?

I'm sure there will be oodles of firmware flashes for this buggy phone anyway.

If you bring the phone to a Nokia authorized service center for reflashing, they should have the firmware releases - or know where they can get them.

hi guys!😊

sorry for my english, i am french😃

Hi!

I am a bit disappointed by all Symbian based smartphones developed by Nokia with regard to support of Asian Languages, in particular Chinese.

Somehow competitors like Sony Ericsson models like P800 & P900 can support Simplified/Traditional Chinese fonts plus input as well. This applies to both menu, selection and navigation, not just viewing. And mind you, they too uses Symbian OS.

But for Nokia, you are forced to choose either English or Chinese, not both.

Looks like I will have to sell off 6600 and get the P900. Well, better spend time reviewing the P900 before I jump into it.

Thanks folks!
