Reset without screen access

Can anyone help please.....my P800 froze when moving an image to the memory stick duo, the only way to shutdown was by removing the battery.

When I have re-started the phone, I have a lit screen, but no screen images.

The phone dials in and out, sounds are OK (clicks etc), recognizes IR (but not the phone)..........help.

I am off on travels soon and everything I need contact wise is on my P800 sim.

Is there any way I can master reset, navigating the phone in blind mode, I dont care if I lose the things I have added since I got new about 4 weeks ago.

Two of us with the company bought P800's Im the second one to fail in four weeks

there is the backup trick which you can do if your sync cradle works, i don't remember the exact procedure of it but you end up removing the phone during the backup when it tells you not to, i think it's during the process of doing a full restore and you remove the phone as it's removed everything ready for a full backup, then when you restart your phone, it will either say corrupt files - reformatting or it'll be done, i'm just guessing at the top of my head though as i didn't read the post with the exact procedures...lalalalala

Thanks

Just got your reply, and to my amazement, the screen has re-appeared again...is this faulty software?
