nokia 6600 gprs settings
'fraid not. I can't get any GPRS to work at all on Orange (something to do with different WAP protocols being used or something)
Wish Orange would sort it out. Having said that, someone on the WhatMobile forums *has* got GPRS working on Orange with his 6600 so it's all a bit odd ...
Will
cant even get it to connect on gsm 😞
Hello,
I am facing the same problem relating to GPRS data communication with my Nokia 6600.There is no Gate IP address option in the access point settings.
If we create a new access point [ Menu >> Tools >> Settings >> Connection >> Access Points >> New Access Point >> Use Default Settings ] a new connection appears in the list.In the connection settings there should be <Gateway IP Address> option like we see in the Nokia 3650,Nokia 7650 and other models, but in 6600 this option is not present.
I think its a mistake in the software.
When we connect to our service providor through GPRS access point The authentication process is done successfuly but when it needs to send and receive data, the phone dont know the communication server IP address so an error message appears <unable to perform operation>.
Nokia should change or upgrade the software for 6600 device.
I have my 6600 working to view full internet sites through GPRS on O2. But this is only through the Services browser, not Opera.
Here are my settings:
Connection Name: O2 WAP GPRS
Data Bearer: GPRS
Access Point Name: wap.o2.co.uk
Username: o2wap
Password: password
Authentication: Normal
Homepage: http://wap.o2.co.uk
Connection Security: Off
Session Mode: Permanent
Advanced Settings:
Have only set:
Proxy Serv. Address: 193.113.200.195
Proxy Port Number: 80
These settings allow me to view full web pages on the phone, but only using the Services browser. I have tried to use Opera with these settings, but the connection keeps timing out. I think I'll need to use the mobile.o2.co.uk apn for Opera, which is chargeable, so I guess i'll stick with the free option!!
Hope this helps,
Nathan
just tried them setting but get invalid gprs access point..
In the advanced settings for O2 WAP GPRS access point profile, I have:
Phone IP Address: Automatic
Primary Name Server: 0.0.0.0
Second. Name Server: 0.0.0.0
Proxy Serv. Address: 193.113.200.195
Proxy Port Number: 80
Under Tools -> Settings -> GPRS I have:
GPRS Connection: When Available
Access Point: wap.o2.co.uk
still same problem 😞
I am using the settings sent form the Nokia site: http://www.nokia.com/nokia/0,,32863,00.html and I clicked on the WAP settings and then changed the proxy port from 0 to 80.
That was all I did to be able to surf full internet pages.
done that now and still get same error 😞
Fear 345 - you're on Orange aren't you? O2 settings won't work for you...
Will
nope im on o2
Are you on pay as you go or contract fear345?
pay as you go
Those settings wont work for pay as you go, only for contract.
Change:
Access Point: payandgo.o2.co.uk
Username: payandgo
And that should do the trick 😃
thanks fellas for the help it works now and very fast too 😊
just need to find some good wap sites now 😉
No problem 😊 Enjoy!
"Dear Peter
Thank you for your mail.
Unfortunately we still do not have any settings for your handset, as it is currently not a recommended handset for use on the Vodafone network. I have provided below a link to Nokia's download page, which is invariably the first to have the settings, but please feel free to contact us again shortly to see if we have the settings if they have not become available."

damn last night all was fine but now gprs sux again it will connect but wont go to any wap sites 😞
you would think nokia and the networks would sort these things out before shipping the phones ,as for customers services blah wot can ya say but why bother ringing some idiot that dont even know about the phone and charge ya 50p a min for the privilage of talking to such idiots 😞
finaly spoke to someone at o2 that had a clue wot he was talking about and he said the nokia 6600 is not officialy acredited on the network until 21st of november so they cant really give any support until after that date
