hey i have an n-gage qd and i just borrowed a blue tooth dongle from my friend and tried to transer via pc suite but pc suite dint find the phone..
the software from the dongle read the phone and i transfered some mp3 to my phone os it cane via the inbox...
as u kno qd hangs(White Screen Of Death) when mem is less.. so my phone hung... it takes atleast 5 days to get ur phone repaired by the nokia care center here in india...
i am plannin to buy a dongle or a mem card reader..which is better and why...
and why wont pc suite find my device when the dongle software duz..

There is Cabir - the proof of concept trojan but its not a virus.Its a malicious application that that sends it self via Bluetooth.BTW:It still needs to be installed like a normal application so you'd have to be mentally challenged to get effected by it 😉
My point is,there are no known viruses for Symbian OS.

First of all you need to install nokia PC Suite and then transfer the files.
I'm thinking about Giving N-Gage as a present to my son for christmas, but there's still some questions I want to ask before I purchase N-Gage:
1. Do you NEED to use your N-Gage as a phone, or is it only optional, and doesn't really require for you to use it as a phone. I'm only planning to let my son play it as a normal Game console (same as a Gameboy Advance), I'm not sure if I'm letting him use it as a phone as well.
2. Can you go on the internet? If so, Is it free?
3. Can you download MP3 music using your N-Gage, or does it require for you to use a PC/Notebook, if so, is it free?

1:You can use a dymmy SIM card so the phone functions won't work,so i guess its optional.
2:Yes,you can go on the internet but in order to do that you need a web browser installed(One of the most popular is Opera) and the phone service(GPRS)so no,its not free.
3:In theory you can download MP3 music from the internet using a web browser but it would be very expensive.The easiest way would be to use the USB cable provided with the N-Gage and download the from a PC or a Notebook.I guess its free if you already own the music.

In some stores it does,and in some it doesn't.You can use any kind of unusable/old/non-working SIM card instead.
One more thing I forgot to ask, when my son plays an online game with others, is it free?
No fee for the games, but you pay for the data transfer [amount] based on your operator's/carrier's tariffs.

My Ngage is behaving rather strangely lately. When i go to profiles and select the ringtone, be it Mp3 or midi or Wav it seems to be rather loud, as it should be but when i have selected the tone that i want and try calling it from another phone the ringing volume is very low.
It was not like this before. It was working fine for few months, there is nothing wrong with hardware as it is loud as usual when selecting tones or playing them individually using the built in recorder application. this problem only started few days back.
1.) it is not set to ascending volume.
2.) firmware 4.03
3.) tried without the mmc card by copying the tone into c: drive
4.) removed dBprofile.db from c:\system\profileapp
5.) format *7370# at least 6 times.
6.) tried deleting most files out of C:\ and D:\ and then *7370#
7.) everything ELSE works just fine except this !
my question is, after formatting the only source of operating system files are from the ROM Z: drive. is it really possible that the ROM copy of the dbProfile.db source has been corrupted ? or the firmware is generating corrupted copies of the dBprofile.db every time i format. it also generates new copies of the dBprofile.db everytime is just delete the dBprofile.db and SOMETIMES the volume gets back to normal, but if the profile application is opened and closed the problem comes again.
Any of you guys here facing this problem ?

Hey nikhil,
Its quite possible that the dBprofile.db is corrupt in your cell. If you have installed a software recently especially a ringtone/sound related software, then uninstall it. If it doesn't get fixed, take your cell to an authorised nokia service center and request them to install the OS again, this should rectify the problem.

I've a problem. My device memory is kinda full. I dnt knw how but only abt 1.5 Mb is free. Although I've lots of space in my MMC. Now the problem is that I can't install any software because it says device memory low, delete some data. I dnt hv any pics or ringtones in my device memeory stil its full.
So can somebody help me as to how to install new softwares. Even a 600kb software also says device memory low.
