Once i heard about the P900 I was all set to go and buy one thinking that it was going to be the best thing since sliced bread but I'm starting to feel that SE have let me down again. Whilst there are many improvements over the P800 the P900 can still only support memory cards up to 128MB. Now I'm a hardcore PDA user and I find it easy to fill up a 128MB so getting the P900 would mean I have to tighten my belt data wise, not something I really want to do.
Now recently I've gone of the idea of a P900 and been more in favour of a XDA2 which is faster, has a bigger screen and can take SD cards. So why should I buy a P900? Is the only reason it's relative size to the XDA2 or is there something I am missing?
You say the XDA2 is faster, how do you come to this conclusion?, the XDA does use a faster CPU, but that by no means says that it is faster in real terms...MS PPC OS uses far more resources than Symbian, and in practice they are quite likely to be equal.
The difference between then being the XDA is a PDA first, and phone second, and the P900 is somewhere inbetween.
The XDA2 sounds really nice, and it is looking a likely rival for the P900, but i'm not convinced by the reliability of it and battery life in "real" use.
I would go for P900. I've used XDA battery life no good may give
you 3 to 4 days. P900 is a king😃
I do like the idea of the P900 it's just the 128MB limit which is putting me off.
I do agree 100%. But you allways lose some thing to get some thing. If you want Good memory expansion you may go for XDAII
but you wont get same battery life why i am saying about battery life bcoz i've been useing that device it my self if i use it every day like playing game surfing net making phone calls playing videos then you may have to charg it every night. P900 memory limite can be solved by SE they just need to up date firmware then it should support Memory stick Duo Pro up to 256😉 . Plus it looks moor Professional over XDAII.
It's a joke to say P900 battery life to be better than XDA II. P900 battery life sucks big time, I could never get pass one day with normal use. The unit itself is still very buggy. I hate the fact that it will reset by itself when you install/delete big application to it (at least in P800 you only get the missing icons). If you you Stacker to compress some big applications, then becareful, you'll get unwanted reset on the P900😞
About the XDA II, It's faster than P900 to handle pictures, pdf, word/excel documents etc. But again, this is a real PDA not a real phone. You also have better softwares to go with the XDA since it can also run the PocketPC softwares.
I also have the same dilemma, but in the end I buy the P900 since I need a super phone. I can use my iPAQ for something else.

Whilst the P900/800 doesn't have great battery life when compared to a regular phone, it sure as hell beats any PPC i've ever used!
I was lucky to get 5-6 hours from my Toshiba E750/Siemens Loox

Same here.I used to charge my iPAQ H3780 twice a day, sometimes even more. And what about the dreaded "recharge,or else!" message 😉
I never dispute XDAII is not a grate PDA. I would like to have one aswell but not to use it as a phone all the time. I've heard There will be firmware update for SE P900 In december that should fix some bugs. I bought T610 while ago that phone had a bugs but later they were fixd. i think thats happend with most SE phones.
Here is a review comparing 3 PDA-phones; the P900, XDA II and the Treo 600. I found it to be a good read, the reviewer seemed fairly objective. And it was of course nice to see which handset came out as the overall winner! 😃
Yeah thats what i was trying to explain about P900.😊
It's a bit of a hard choice. Do I get a P900 but keep a PDA to do the pocket PC type jobs that the P900 cant cope with or do I get a XDA2 to do my pocket PC stuff and get a small phone for situations where lugging a chunky PDA is not appropriate?
I think I'll go for the XDA2 if they sort out the bluetooth GPS problems and swap my 7650 for a 7210 or something. I always found the 7650 a bit chunky and avoided taking it out with me to clubs and pubs anyway, so I expect I'd end up doing the same with the P900 as it's a similar size. I know the P900 is the all round device but by sitting to much on the fence it doesn't quite satisfy one way or the other, not to mention the rather irritaing propriatary 128MB memory limit. Whilst a XDA2 is rather chunky it does function as a phone and it'll be fine to carry to the office in my bag. when i go out i'll just swap it over for a 7210.
Dont get me wrong, I really like the P900 but as a heavy PDA user it wont remove the need for a fully fledged pocket PC and it's bulkyness will keep it on my desk instead of in my pocket. For the time being it's a XDA2 and a 7210 i reckon. Maybe the P1000 will do the job?
*edit*
Actaully what i'll probably do is buy myself a XDA2 wait the three months necessary to lower my tariff and then get a P900 on a new contract. Hopefully by then you'll be able to pick them up for 100 or less.
all said & done... i know many people who have sold the p900 & opted for the xda II & are much happier off now. also many people who sold their 9210 & opted for the xda II...much happier again..
i only have a problem while driving..u cant sms...
the question now is that is it worth waiting for the 9500 or go ahead & by a XDA II.???
XDA II
more stable...more memoey...faster...tons of saoftware available....cant sms with one hand...sync is good...no keayboard....
DILEMA!!!!...what to do...
More memory, faster, lots of software, good synching I can accept.
But more stable? You're having a larf right?
I agree with most of the comments about the limitations of the P900 (particularly the memory issue) but, for me at least, there is one deciding factor.
The P900 is small enough (not small but small enough) to keep with me all the time. The XDA is much too big to carry all the time whereas I have my P900 in my pocket or in front of me on my desk virtually all the time.
The P900 is definitely a half way house. It has limitations as a phone and a PDA, but for me both are good enough. The XDA may be a good PDA (although the fact that it runs MS software makes this hard to believe) but it's not a good phone.

Christ on a bike - shouldn't you be concentrating on driving rather than playing with your phone? It looks like the stories I have heard about driving in India may be true.
Asking P900 or XDA2 in a P900 forum isn't exactly fair...I'll vote XDA2 🙄
