A couple of questions about firmware

2 replies · 1,716 views · Started 11 November 2003

Hello there. I posted this as a reply in another thread but it slipped by unnoticed. So here goes.

How do I check what firmware I have? I think I could do with an upgrade since there are blatantly flaws in many of the apps.

Are any of these fixed in latest firmware? -

- create own folders in sms?

- access sms folders other than inbox in flip-closed mode? very annoying if you write half a text with flip closed then get distracted. You have to open the flip to finish it off. NOT very conveniant in pubs.

- export drawings from jotter as image files?

- on email, option to delete message from phone only, not server as well?

- rename or delete fields on contacts?

- choose default sms number/phone number /email address for each contact (like on series 60)?

- zoom in further than 100% in pictures?

- rearrange icons on menu?

Just a few of my personal niggles with the phone. Overall I'm still really happy though.

So 67 people have read this thread but no one can answer my question? Or at least point me to a place that can?

Hi,

All the flaws you mention are very valid, but unforunately I think none of them have been changed, added or rectified in the most recent firmware version.

I might be wrong though, because my P800 is running on ancient firmware, but I haven't heard of these things changing during the 10 (or so) versions after mine. If it had, I probably would have bothered to upgrade...

You can check your firmware version by going to "View" - "System information" in the Applications menu, or by turning the jog dial up * down down * down * in flip closed mode (turn the jog dial only 1 notch at a time).
