Infrared or Bluetooth?

What is the best to use with 7650 to transfer data (photos, pictures, ringtones)? Infrared connection or Bluetooth?

Welcome! It depends... do a search on this forum, there is a lot of information on this topic.

But, BT is very convenient, tho you need to buy a dongle for your PC, then you may have setup problems.

IR needs to be in line with the IR port of the PC. If you have a laptop (like me), no problem, but if you have a desktop PC, you'll probably need to buy some hardware. If you're going to buy hardware, probably best going for BT.

If you are going to be a heavy user, think about BT. If it's just to send a picture or 2, IR may be more appropriate

Thanks for the fast reply.

I think that I will go with BT, I love to put things in the mobile, to make it look my way.

they are now both priced the same, you'll probably have more things now that support infra red on your computer, but in the future, you'll probably have more things that support bluetooth on your computer, the cheapest bluetooth dongle i've seen is around 20 from www.ebuyer.co.uk or www.ebuyer.com depends where you are, but you can do things on the toilet with your phone you couldn't do when you've only got infre red 😃

Thanks for the link to this store nk8, its really the cheapest price I found on the net.

no probs, however, you might have to pay a bit more because you live in brazil though and the shop is in america or UK. 😱 😉 🙄 😡 😛 😎 <<<< just thought i'd make the post more interesting

Thanks. Im used to buy things on the internet, here in Brazil I cant find nothing good. Well, somethings I can find, but they have a really high price.

Its best to buy in the net, international credit card rules!

I started with Infrared and later changed to Bluetooth adaptors. It's much more convenient now as I don't have to remove the phone from the belt holder and align it to the infrared adaptor.

I'm using WinXP professional and Bluetooth is MUCH more stable. Infrared gave me some connectivity issues. Speed wise, I felt bluetooth was faster too. Well, at least the progress bar moves much faster using bluetooth connection.

Most of the time, the problem is PC Suite which I have to restart during the day.

Im using Xp too, from some people I heard that Bluetooth gives more connetion problems, but even tought I think that I will go with BT.
In speed and price its better.

Thanks for the replies!

On XP, even when I set bluetooh configuration to do a discovery for bluetooth devices every 5 minutes, it does not work.

Would be nice if I step near my PC and the connection comes on automatically for me to do a sync using PC Suite. Right now, I have to do a manual connect first. 😞
