anyone else get this at random times?
your phone has been restarted in order to improve performance
Its a known bug, happens when the application list disappears.
And SE are already working on it.
my app list didn't disappear, it was when i went to "find new files" in the ogg player application, then inserted my memory card, then it restarted itself, then just stayed in a continuous loop of restarting once it had booted up for about 5 times before i took the mem card out, formatted it on the pc, and then formatted it with the p900 to get the folders on it😞
Yup! Happened to me twice now, does'nt seem to do any harm though
nk8,sorry i wasn't clear enough. Its the same bug that makes the application list dissapear in the p800,something to do with Apparc.Apparently, this bug is is not SE's fault, but Symbian's.🙄
ah, no worries, carphonewarehouse seem dumb so i'm gonna take my phone in, show them my problem and just get a new replacement for the hell of it 😃
yeah, maybe its like the triangle warning in the p800, only it appears randomly. Maybe a firmware upgrade would help. But i dont think there is any yet. here's my version on my p9:
phone : R3B004
bluetooth: R5D
organiser: R1B01
CDA: R1A04
whats yours?
phone r3b004
blue r5d
organiser r1c01
cda r2b01
oganiser r1c01
Have you upgraded to it or you got it when you purchased P900?
i got it like this... i think it's because i'm just special or something like that.
or ummm, i think that anyone who got it from carphonewarehouse UK has it like that too because i don't believe they've had any other deliveries on different software versions......or have they *shifty eyes*
I keep on getting everytime I install something on my phone 😞 at first I thought it was just the vrally game but now it seems it s every ap I install 😞
I guess it's because of the "app-list disappering bug" Muzikfreakah. It probably (correct me if I am wrong) only happens when you install something to the MS Duo. That would proof my theory😉
The problem is I dare not try to install vrally on the phone coz it requires 10mb of space 😞 😞 😞
Update: I backed up my stick then reformated it and installed vrally again and it worked. I reformated my stick, returned my backup then installed vrally and it restarted again.. I think the file system of my 128 was messed up so I guess I have to reinstall everything again 😞 So it not vrallys fault..
it seems their could be a problem (bug) between the p900 and memory stick duos, i've had loads and loads of problems with my mem duo which only happen certain times after formatting it, it's really extensive to describe :'(
Update again:
After I reformatted my duo and installed everything again it seems that I have never encountered the restart program! I have had 2 kernel errors whili trying to run vrally, but when I cleared my memory and ran it again it was ok! I also had a kernel error on the communicam, it happened while turning the jog dial to choose the mode (night, auto, video...etc) restarted my phone and it was ok again. I am guessing this kernel errors are bec of memory 😞
16mb aint enough 😞 hehehehe! 😊 But still the P900 rocks!! Just make sure to structure your files properely to avoid errors on phone memory.
Just a thought... did you try using the password file BEFORE installing the vrally files 1&2?
i found a way to always produce this message, go to task manager, and then close the phone application, it'll say it's a system app, then close it, and the phone will restart
Never seen this problem... Unable to reproduce this error at all. I can run as many resource consuming programs as I can and it runs with no hicups. I think some members got their units from a bad batch. My firmware revision is quite old, but I don't see why members are seeing the issue on the more recent firmware revisions...
I only had this occuring to me on the first day I had my phone with me. Back then i still didnt have any software installed yet. Since then and after all the software installation, it never occured once. Been more than a week now. Hope it remains that way 😊
well the good thing about this new message is that it's rather friendly, as opposed to the huge yellow triangle saying switch the phone off by the ten second power button method, so it seems this new one isn't that severe 😛
Just did a firmware update
Phone R3C006
BT R5D
Org R2B02
CDA R2C01
And i still get the reboot after almost every software install.
Even to the c: not just the mem card.
Sob sob sob!
Think it is just a nice way to say your phone crashed! OPS!
But at lest if it crashes it turns back on so you dont walk around all day with a turned off phone.
Or over sleep cause your alarm did not go off in the morning!
I believe at this point that you guys have defective P900s.... I still cannot reproduce the error... I already have abused the hell out of my P900 with all types of test and loaded software... I have upgraded the firmware as of late... 6 weeks later its still running smooth with no error msgs yet..

No, it is a bug in UIQ, same bug that made the P800 app list disappear. It's been reported to SE - Symbian - UIQ, and apparently they are working on it.
so it reboots just to get the applications list back!!
that's strange!
I'd rather have my application list disapeared (and use the TasMan trick) rather than booting my device eveytime I install or uninstall any software🙄
Mmm...
Mine also seams to reboot when i open a large web page in the internal browser.
Tried to open this page 3 times and reboot everytime.
But when i open it in opera it worked 100%
Oh well!
Tried to open this page 3 times and reboot everytime.
I'm assuming you mean this forum page? I can open it no problem with the SE browser, didn't try Opera.
My firmware versions are:
Phone R3C006
Bluetooth R5D
Organiser R2B02
CDA R2A10
I've never had the phone crash on me yet, tried the "close phone app" but the phone just says "Cannot close Phone" so I don't think the problem is with all P900's. How long have you had yours? Maybe it just affects early models. I've had mine for a week and the box is datestamped the 14th November.
If you have a sure-fire way of making the phone crash then I'd be happy to try it on mine.
I have
Phone R3C006
Bluetooth R5D
Organiser R2B02
CDA R2C01
Did the update on the weekend.
And thats when it really started getting buggy.
It was once a day or two.
Now its almost every time i want to run an app.
Just tried to read an ebook and bye bye!
Tried to open the ebook again and bye bye
Tried with a whole bunch of them.
The small ones open fine but the bigger ones crash it.
And b4 upgrade they all worked 100%
Think i am gonna try formate and install everything from scratch over the weekend.
See if that helps any?
KayonLord,
Yes, try a format. If that doesn't rectify your problems, you need to reflash the firmware.
