Hi
Im having a very peculair problem when using my phone as a GPRS modem with infrared. I have a nokia 3650, FW 2.50, and with minimun software installed atm. I have the dialup connections all configured and am able to make connection to the internet successfully using infrared.
Now the problem is there is no transfer of data after like 10-20 mins. the modem wont hang up i.e the connection stays active but the only thing u see is laptop SENDING data, while none is recieved. IF i disconnect connection from laptop, the phones GPRS symbol stays 'boxed' ie it shows that GPRS is still being used, even though ive disconnected. I have to reboot the phone when it happens, and then im able to connect again, for 10-20 mins. This cant be a prob with my GPRS provider, coz i can stay online for days if im using wireless irc or agile messenger ON the mobile. Also, i think it cant be a FW problem as i used to stay connected for like hours before ,with the same FW. Ive tried formatting the phone mem, and removing the MMC, as well as 'safe' mode, nothing works. If anyone can help me stay on the net the way i could before, i'd highly appreciate it.
Thanks in advance
peculiar GPRS Modem problem
Hy,
Have you checked if it isn't the operator's fault ?
If it isn't I sugest a firmware upgrade...
Good luck !
yes monodax, seems like we both have exactly the same problem. but ive been luckier than u, in the sense that on some rare occasions im able to stay connected to the net and recieving data for like hours. but as i said, its very rare. i even emailed nokia guys about this, but they didnt bother to reply back. Well bro, it has got me thinking as to what the prob could be. GPRS works perfectly well with the ON PHONE apps. I mean, i can stay online for like hours on agile messenger without getting disconnected even once. So, certainly its not a problem with the provider. What firmware do u have monodax? if its 2.50, then it might be a firmware problem, although i doubt it coz the internet was working perfectly well like a month back. Also, are you able to stay online with ON THE PHONE apps?
