Email/IMAP questions/comments....

I received my 6600 on the O2 UK network two days ago. This is by far the best phone I have ever used. I bought an XDA2 on Friday and exchanged it on Monday for the 6600. I will post a full review this weekend. OK, now for some questions for those that have had theirs for longer than me....

1. Using the 6600's default email application, I can connect and download my messages from my IMAP server using GPRS. However, It doesnt seem that the 6600 polls the server for new messages very often. Although I realise it consumes bandwidth, I would like to know if I have received a new email within 1 minute. Is it possible to configure this?

2. Also, GPRS is alot less 'always on' than I was lead to believe. It seems that my phone cannot keep a connection for much longer than 1/2 hour before I see that the connection is no longer active (and I have it set to 'when available'😉. Is this normal?

3. I have also noticed that within the email inbox messages cannot be sorted by time, only by date which is very frustrating since I have to scroll through all my messages to see if I have a new one. (New messages should always be at the top.) Am I missing something?

4. Lastly, one of the greatest features of IMAP is the ability for the client to read and sort messages into folders. It doesnt appear tha the Nokia client can do this. Is that correct?

5. I am a heavy email user and wonder if there are any better email apps out there for the 6600????

6. Lastly, the worst bug/feature of the N6600.....and its a biggie......the rediculous backlight timeout. The backlight stays on for a few seconds after the last button press before turning off. Its incredibly frsutrating. Why is this not user configurable!!! Is there some code which could fix this or do we need to wait for the next firmware release?????

Besides the backlight, Im sure everything else can be resolved by a few genius's. This is the BEST smartphone (Balance between form/function) currently on the market. I did my research.

Any help is much appreciated.

Nick.
