i just my n-gage yesterday and today i tried to connect to the computer. no go. the mrouter has three options com1 com7 and infared. no usb. how do i get it so i can start using PC suite, it won't let me.

you don`t need any extra sftware to conect your N-Gage to your PC. just plug in the usb cable to both pc and ngage. then your windows will automatically recognise your ngage as a new hard drive. (just check my computer)... if you are using a wndows older than 2000, your have to install the usb drivers to your computer. if your windows` version is greater than 2000 then you will have no problem... PC suite is used only for bluetooth connections...

drager's right,

without bluetooth you can toss the pc suite! The usb option works great and I have no need forthe blue tooth on my notebook! Just plug in the cable and have fun!

bluemax189,you can't use PC Suite with the USB cable, you'll need Bluetooth or Infrared. You can even backup important data like contacs without using PC Suite.

ok so i checked and windows did recognize n-gage as a mass storage device, but would not allow me to go into it. It did not show up as an icon at all. I now uninstalled PC suite and now it says unknown device. how do i work this thing

it will not recognise your phone as a phone or ngage. the icon wll be same as your hard drives. check that also. the will be no special icons for ngage, same and regular harddrive icon. by this icon you can use your ngage as a harddrive...you can copy/delete files to/from your ngage...

using usb (without PCSuite?) to backup contacs? how ghostdog? thx^^

-Nyam-,you are hijacking bluemax's thread, that is not very nice.Anyway, there are couple of methods:You can manually copy the contacs.cdb database or you can use SmartVCard from www.symbianware.com to export the contacs in to a .vcf (vCard) database. In the future please do a search before asking an already answered question.

Back to the original thread.

ok my computer wont show anything. it is gay. I have XP but the ngage wont show up as anything on the computer. it does show up however on the device manager as an unknown device.
