GPRS on Vodofone (UK postpay)

Guys

Help me out - when I use the standard web browser, it all works fine, no issues. But when I use Opera or Traffic-i, it fails to connect, but obviously is still using the same account (there's only one stored).

Any ideas why it's like this?

Many thanks...

Open control panel >connections>internet accounts>new. Account name> Vodafone internet,
connection type>GPRS,now click on advanced in address field type>internet, leave every thing else now press done & done again>done
now click on wap accounts creat new wap account>Vodafone.Net, in internet account field chose internet account you just creat Vodafone internet now click on>use proxy enable it & type in user name(web) password (web) thats it press done
now opera should work and all other aswell
if you still have a problem let me know😉

Hassan

Done all that, but it won't let me out of the Wap account set up without entering the 'address' (underneath the use proxy tick box). Do you know what this should be?

Thanks

Don't forget than the standard browser uses a WAP gateway and not a "internet gateway", you need to call Vodafone and ask them to enable your internet APN on your account, this will allow you to use other programs that don't use a WAP gateway.

0.0.0.0 also works for the IP, if you search the forums this has been discussed many times in the P800 forum, i'd tell you but i've just moved to Orange. 😊

Well I spent about 45 mins on the phone to vf tech support (though 15 of those were on hold), and they given me some new settings ,but these are way more complicated than what's discussed here. Unfortunatly, the vf Live! service is having some scheduled downtime, so I can't test things at the moment.

The guy owns a P800 as was working through it on the phone, so hopefully he knew what he was talking about.

Still not working 😡 😡 😡 😡

In fairness, vf have been quite helpful, but they've lost thier Help systems (alledgedly) at the moment, so I need to call back tomorrow.

Iv'e got the phone sat near my PC speakers, so using these settings I can hear it trying to connect out, my guess would be there's something blocking it a VF's end. They've yet to check the Internet APN is enabled (becuase their system's are out), but I'm hoping that's it.
