Hi - havent been here for a while 😊
have a question :
just set up my phone(7650) to connect to read and send email
through my private internet provider.
I believe to have set up the connection correctly with
gprs data transfer.
When i check/read mail nothing is wrong.
but when i try sending email-message i get this error message right after the : "sending-process-bar" (nice word)
"sending of email failed , check your settings" (not quite this but close 😊 my translation sucks hehe)
HOWEVER : the mail IS sent and the person i am writing to gets the message. Its just so irritating that the error message pops up every time i'm sending a mail. otherwise nothings wrong.

if someone know what it is allready please post - otherwise i can post the complete setup ive done on the phone

btw - is the 7650 forum "almost" dead?
i mean after all the new series 60 phones has been released
do u guys still hang on to your 7650?

Yes I used to get this error message. When I first set up the phone I asked orange about the email setting and they gave me the SMTP (outgoing mail settings to use). I then messed around with the setting and just put my ISP's SMTP in. This is when I started getting the error message but noticing that the email was still sent.
So it might be worth asking your network provider for there SMTP setting as the email has to leave via there network - for orange I think it was just smtp.orange.net but you should double check that...

Dead? Nah! Just we have asked a lot of questions and most has been covered! 😃
I think now we are maturing and are becoming a Quiet bunch! 😉
For now I am sticking with a 7650 as I am normally terrible with lenses and the 7650 has the great Keypad/Lens cover.

I've had that problem, it came and went mysteriously, even tho my email settings were stable, so there must be something else which affects it. I've got a lot of apps running in the background (eprofiles, minigps etc) so it's difficult to point the finger at anything in particular.
In fact, I could not send email until I inserted the smpt of my operator
In fact, I prefer using emailviewer by Reqwireless, because it lets you view first details of the message, then the body of the message, then attaches (opens .doc & .pdf, as well as html), and it maintains an address list separate from the phone's. So selectively viewing email is a lot faster (and cheaper!). I delete a lot of mail off my mailserver this way without actually downloading it. (it works like a webmail)
Also, I often get big attaches, which I can't open on the phone - at least with this proggie, I get to read the body of the message
