i successfully extracted the bmp files from the crystallized theme, and edited some of it in photoshop.
my question is, why do i always get a 0kb file whenever i try to save them in mbmwhizard?
this is what i do:
1. open an mbm archive in mbmwhizard
2. go to the tempextract directory and duplicate that folder for editing purposes
3. i rename the files 1 to 99 so they become 3 digits e.g. 001 - 099
4. i edit some of the pic files in photoshop and save them preserving the original size and file names of the files.
5. i then go back to mbmwhizard and select the directory of the bmp files under the file selection window.
6. i click on select all then click on add selected as /c8 which is the default value.
7. once all the files can be seen in the files in archive window, i click on select all, then go to file > save as
8. i type in a file name and it starts processing...converting files then a status window appears that says plz be patient...then a form4 window appears.
9. after all the processing is done, i go to where i saved the mbm file, i find it there but the size is 0kb.
10. when i try opening this file in mbm whizard it says error: invalid archive.
what am i doing wrong? please help guys! thank you very much in advance and thanks for reading.
a follow-up...
i read some of the posts in symbian forums, and i read your tutorial. i have been wanting to modify my nokia 6600 theme. and ive seen other people come up with theirs so that inspired me.
anyway, i have mbmwhizzard and bmconv. i wanted to try to modify a theme someone else did called crystallized theme for the nokia 6600. i was able to extract the files using mbmwhizzard, then edited some of the bmp files in photoshop, saved them using the same name, keeping the order of the image sequence intact. i even renamed the other files because the list that mbm whizzard generated was image1.bmp - image99.bmp instead of image001.bmp etc.
my problem is i cant seem to successfully compile those 359 image files into 1 mbm file. i use mbmwhizzard and it gives me a xxx.mbm that is 0kb in size, i use bmconv using a list generated from mbmwhizzard (following your tutorial) and it gives me the same thing. i tried removing other files from the list so i was only doing 100 files for experimentation purposes and it was able to generate a proper mbm file with about 70kb in size.
please help me, what am i doing wrong?
hi,
1) Open MBM Wizzard
2) File > Import > mbm file
3) Click on select all
4) Click on save the images as bitmap (this way u'll save the images)
5) Edit the necessary bmp's or all of them
6) Open MBM Wizzard
7) On the left side you'll see the directory/drive selection combo
8) Choose your directory...all the bmp's will be shown
9) Select all...then change the "Add using combo: to "/c16"
10) Click at add selected
11) Click on file....save as & the name of the MBM file...
Thats all

marirs, thank you very much for helping! that simple step of selecting on a file made all the difference! now i was able to save the archive successfully and apply it to my 6600.
again thank you very much!

Cool...take it easy....enjoy....
I'm working on a new software...excepted to release this week end or next week... This is a Theme2Sis Wizzard...meaning you either give the bmps' or the mbm file & it will make the .sis installer for you. & This will be available FREE... 😃
No catches...... 😊

i had this problem. what happens is that bmconv adds images seperated by spaces, so if the image name has a space in it then it will read it as two images, for example "image 1.bmp" is read as "image" and "1.bmp". this leads to an error. the simple way to cure this is to replace any spaces with _ before running mbmwhizard
I have problem also. When I go to File and open, it shows me this:
run time error '76'
Path not found
I tried to use your method by going to:
1) Open MBM Wizzard
2) File > Import > mbm file
3) Click on select all
4) Click on save the images as bitmap (this way u'll save the images)

9) Select all...then change the "Add using combo: to "/c16"
10) Click at add selected
11) Click on file....save as & the name of the MBM file...
But before I go to 3) Click on select all, I have an error stated:
Not a valid archive
Can you tell me where the problem lies?
