5 replies · 19,721 views · Started 03 December 2003

everytime I try to type "you" using t9 i get "yot" as the first word it guesses? wtf that is i dont know but it is very annoying. can I delete words from the t9 dictionary? if so - how?

thanks in advance

HI!...

Try this ...

Using some File Manager (FExplorer or SeleQ) Go to

c:\system\Data ...

if you put it some new word on your T9 dictionary is
on this file :

T9UDB0f.DAT

You can delete that file and the T9 will use only the
ROM Words ...

And don't worry ... any new word that you add to T9
will create that file again...

I am not sure that this solve your problem.. but!
try without any scary thing 😃 trust me!

If that don't solve the problem, i think that your English
T9 is bad, or you are not using the right Dictionary language on
WRITING LANGUAGE OPTION...

Remember that You can use one Language for the system
and other for writing..

Thanks for the tip.
On my E65 I used SExplorer (see simonjudge.com/sexplorer.html) as FExplorer couldn't install for some reason.
Also my dictionary file was named 101F8615_F.dat under c:\predic\.
Still, the same idea worked - I removed the file and it was recreated with the first new spelled word.
I also noticed you can edit this dat file with a text editor and delete unneeded words, though I didn't try it.

Hi,

Just letting you know I fixed an incorrect word "YOU" was always coming out as "YOT" !! on my Nokia 6110

I loaded SE explorer, and the opened up the C:\Predic\ folder on the phone, I then copied the DAT file therein.

I copied this to my images direct on the memory card!

It did however copy the whole Predic directory!

I then moved a copy to my pc, renamed the file extension from "101F8615_F.dat" to "101F8615_F.txt". I then opened the file. Then modified the incorrect entry YOT to YOU ( Warning - the data appears to be separated by different delimeters so! I just changed the word to the one that I was after. Also you can not just search for "YOT" to find it. AS it was "Y O T" had spaces!!!

i was also able to open the DAT file without renaming it in WORDPAD worked just the same

here is sample of code

e n r o l m e n t s q u i t e M t h e U
 y o t b a b y s i t t e r c a r e r s o a n d h a v e b e t o b e o n t o s i c k i e [ y o u * c a l k * d a v e n p o r t a n e * a l u m n y a l u m y * b o b ' s * a a r o n ' s * m o s t y o u * o f y o u * t h e m y o u * a r e y o u * q u i t e y o u

Once i edited this file i saved it back to the same spot on the phone memory card. Deleted the original PREDIC folder from the C:\ ( it is always good to have a back up of the original still in case your edit does not work). Then i went into the predic folder on the memory card and copied it, and pasted it directly on the phones C:\

reboot phone and hey presto!!
