256Duo(253mb only) Non pro now available

I just saw tha doml is offering the 256MB MS Duo Pro for US$139.99. Unfortunately it was stated that it wont function with the P800/900. It really sucks. I hope SE does something about it. I mean whats the use of a PDA/Phone multimedia device if it cant accomodate a memory way past 128MB??? 😞

I just got back from HK about a week ago and I even saw the 512 duo pro.. but these wont work 😞 But I have a lot of faith with the 256 mb non pro 😊

someone should do the risk and buy one 😊 , then share his BAD 😞 or GOOD 😛 impressions... we are waiting!🙄

Go on then hAnDyGUY ! Let us know how you get on!
😃

AFAIK the phones just cant handle more than 128Mb. No matter how much we WANT to believe they can, "if we can only find the right sort of DUO", it just wont work.

I've just come back to UIQ from a Windows Smartphone, and the drop from 512Mb to 128Mb was a shock, but if I can live with it I would have thought most others could too.

128Mb DUOs are 45 on Amazon.co.uk, buy yourself 2!

We could even buy three if we want but its the hassle of replacing then and where to put them that just sucks! I have the 32mb extra now but I just leave it at home even if I put music or sitcoms on it..

That's a typo..... Sony doesn't recognize that product #... It more likely would be MSX-256A for 256mb Pro DUOs.. I've seen a few other companies make that mistake with the 128mb Duo a few months ago..

Unfortunately Pxxx doesn't support the pro format.. However, Lexar products engineering dpt. has informed me that its a matter of SE placing that capability in their software through a firmware upgrade... The limitation is by no way hardware limited..

A firmware upgrade? Then what in blazes are they waiting for? I believe they should address this ASAP. I am sure alot of P8/9 users would thank them if they do

@bigfeat, thanks your all your help man! 😊 BTW, I think it mite not be a mistake because its on on like 10 sites and they all have the same model listed with 253mb instead of 256. What do you think?

@Christomas: T.I. pare hindi talaga ako maka update! Wala nanga akong tulog dahil dyan! Grr..Anyway will try it later with another laptop. And I would like to correct one thing, Its not a lot of P8/9 users but all P8/P9 users will pobably get a 256/512 as long as they will work!! 😊

Imagine this, 512 mb, put 2 movies in it, buy a belkin FM transmitter(Accesorie for the IPOD) to transmit audio to you car stereo wirelessly(tried it and love it, we also have it in stock), Buy the P9 holder or the universal SE holder for the car, mount it in front of you, mount your phone, twist it in landscape mode, voila! Who needs Car lcds?? Full 4 stereo surround sound man!!! 😊 😊 😊

To Muzikfreakah: Patience lang bay. Am sure taod taod maka connect ka na. Hey naa ko diha sa Cebu mga two months ago. Basin mubalik lang ko karong January. Pangitaon unta kita kaso wala ko kahibalo sa cellphone nimo. Anyway next time hopefully magkita na jud ta hehehe

Sure man! Anytime, you can look for me at our shop. #87 Gorordo ave, Cebu City. ARCtech Solutions Inc 😊 Ill PM you my number! 😊

I think you will find that the only 256MB duo, non-pro, will be one card fitted with two 128MB chips which has to be removed and hard switched.

I think I mentioned that in an earlier post... At any rate, it makes no logical sense at all... The fact that the banks needs to be physically switched it would require one to take the card out to perform the switch... I would much rather expect the notion of a duo bank card if it at least allowed one to switch the between the banks via a software interface.. Similar to accessing a partitioned drive.. The fact that I get the 128mb Duos as $56 USD a piece I bet I would still save money buying 2 pieces then a duo bank card.. A good marketing strategy would be if they charged 20% less for that card versus the price of 2 cards..

I already inuired from SE... 😞 Sad.. Very Sad..

Never assume the S/E helpdesk actually knows what they're talking about - 2 weeks ago I enquired about support for the CID function on the HBH-200, and a week later I got a reply back saying that there are no plans to add support. The next day the Home Update is made available which does in fact fix the CID for the HBH200.🙄

If it is just a soft/firmware issue that's preventing the use of the Pro cards then I'm sure that'll be changed, since there's a huge profit margin for Sony in those sticks....
