I heard that the 6600 has a defective LCD where you can see a dark spot on it... called the hot pixel. Have you guys experienced it?
I went to some local shops here in the Philippines and they all said that the 6600 has so many factory defects that a lot of units were returned to be replaced... (good thing some offer warranty). Anyway, is the 6600 really faulty? I'm planning to get one but I'm not sure now coz of these bad feedbacks I hear. What would be a better phone to get? aside from the P900 of course.. coz I don't have enough money for it 😊 and I already had the p800... what would be the best option aside from those two?
Those pixels are common problem in LCD displays. Dead pixel is always black and stuck pixel is bright one (maybe different colour).
So its not 6600's fault that technology is not error free. Also LCD displays for computers have dead or stuck pixels. Some manufacturers requires at least 3 dead / stuck pixel before they change your display to new one.
The 6600 is not faulty at all , the only fault is the pixels issue and you can check for them before you buy the phone .
How can i test if my display on 6600 hase dead or stuck pixels?
Cause when in use the phone camera ONLY IN night mode i see a lot of red pixels, it;s annoyng. But ONLY in night mode.
Thnaks
Youre talking about camera @ night mode. Those red & green pixels in night mode is normal. When giving more signal to the camera's CMOS/CCD it gives more colorful noise (like in digital camera when shooting ISO400 setting).
ST@RR , have you considered the Siemens SX1 or the Sendo X?
Ghostdog: Are those two out already? Siemens isn't that popular here in the philippines so I have no news about the SX1. Sendo X looks nice but I have to see the specs. But I'll check that out 😊 Thanks!
Another 6600 observation: My bf's got the P900... and we sent some wav files to the 6600 when we were testing it, it says File not supported. We sent it to the 3650, it then played beautifully. It was a stereo wav btw... ADPCM (not sure hehe) codec with 44.5 khz wav. Why is that? Has anybody experienced it? or could that be fixed?

My 6600 plays stereo wav's just nicely. Are you sure that it was 44,5kHz and NOT 44,1kHz ? 44,5 isnt standard...

I heard about those "returns". Most of them were from Semicon. I got my 6600 from CellStar. I think Globe usually gets their stocks from semicon.
Anyway, my 6600 runs great. Very happy with it. I haven't tried dropping it on the floor though... 😃
yeah... it's 44.5khz... we placed it on the highest khz... 44.5 is the highest right? I don't know what was wrong with the unit...
kobe: yeah... those were from Semicon. globe get theirs at brightpoint and not semicon so I think they're safe hehehe!
Maybe it is just that its not standard Hz. Highest kHz i have met is 96kHz (used by hometheater systems; Dolby Digital and DTS). 44,5kHz isnt standard. Try to play that wav in pc and see what happens..

The Siemens SX1 has been released in Germany, not sure about world wide. The Sendo X is not release yet but specs-wise it is the strongest Series 60 device so far.
juzu: ok, will try that. Thanks!
GhostDog: Do you have any idea when the Sendo will be released? I take your word for it... (having the best specs among series 60 phones) I'll wait for it probably... hopefully, it won't take that long... I've got no cellphone now coz I sold mine already. hehe
