watis sis and mbm files for 6600?

SIS files are Symbian Installation System files = packaged files that contain an application that is unpacked/installed on the phone.

MBM files are MultiBitMap files, which are files that can contain a number of different individual graphics (bitmap images, pictures, icons).

Are sis & mbm files installed in the same manner?

I tried installing a 6600 these (mbm file) but all i got in the end was an option to save it as a wallpaper~!~

please advise.

MBM files are bitmaps = a picture file with one ore more pictures inside it. They're not installable program files. What do you want to do with yours (what kind pictures is it supposed to contain)?

I downloaded a theme from themes6600.tk and transferred it via infrared to my 6600...there i rcvd it as a message in my inbox...as i open it i get the option to save it...but in the end i got no theme!

something wrong w/ the way i m trying to install it?

What you downloaded was not a theme,but a file used to make a theme out of.. You need a Series 60 Theme Studio(S60TS) to compile a theme out of that mbm and store it as a .sis file.. First then you can transfer it to the phone and use it.. 😉

that mbm is like a raw material for the S60TS.. For example,let's say you have 5 mbm's and everyone of these could actually be a theme in itself. But if you don't like all of the icons in one of the mbm's(potential themes),you could compile a brand new theme out of those 5 mbms..
