how do you upgrade
First, you find your local Nokia Service Centre (NSC) on the www.nokia.com website. You then take or post your phone to them with both proof of the phone being under warranty, and the fault that it has resulting in you needing to upgrade.

But, you'll lose all data, and possibly be without your phone for up to a week - if you are not suffering from a problem fixed by a newer firmware, it's not worth ugprading (and occasionally it goes wrong, and the phone needs to be sent to Nokia, which means an even longer time without the phone).

Indeed. This happened to my 3650 last Friday. Though I declined the offer to send it to Nokia and *#7370#'d it myself. Although it's still a bit buggy, it's a lot more reliable. And I can't afford to wait until "mid-2004" which was quoted before I could get it back (they didn't offer to give a temporary phone either).

My fone did have to be sent off to Nokia (UK) and i received it back within 16 days even though their SLA is 14 days.

Hi,

For those in UK, if you have probs take it to carphonewarehouse (loads in each city). They have a service centre & can upgrade your software on the property (usually takes 2 days).
If there is a problem then they will send it to their HQ where nokia supply additional software support. That normally takes 14 days.

PS you don't need a reciept nor have purchased the phone from CPWH, they will just scan the barcode that confirms whether the phone is in warranty.

regards

Or take it to a local NSC as listed on the Nokia website who will often do the upgrade whilst you wait or within 24 hours. Always worth ringing first to find their quiet times or their policy - eg some will be 24 hour turnaround no matter what, whereas others are a couple of hours, although may be able to do whilst you wait if they are quiet.

Last time I went to an NSC, they were so quiet the engineer came out and talked about all sorts of things Nokia whilst the phone was being updated!
