hi, i just bought my se p900... i was wondering how come when i insert my memory stick duo in the slot my phone cant detect it? it cant be broken i just bought it yesterday but if it is then i'll have to take it back to the phone shop. you think its broken or i was just doing something wrong?
p900
My stick came pre-formatted (I thought they all did), but you could try formatting yours in the phone...
Control Panel - "Other" tab - Format disk
when i try formatting the disk it says... no disk found. thats why i cant even rename it. do ihave to install all the softwares included first?? hehe ... this is my first time to use a symbian based phone with uiq.. etc etc. hehehe
No, it shouldn't need anything. It's worth checking the card isn't locked (take it out, there is a little slider on it) though I doubt that is the problem.
otherwise u should try it on a Card Reader ... if it didn't work too then you have a faulty card .. get a replacement!
tnx guys... please bear with me though im new at this... should i insert the card all the way though or should i stop once i've heard the clicking sound? imight go to the phone shop tomorrow to have it checked but i need to know first if what im doing is right. thanks again!
It goes in until the end nearest to you is level with the case. An easy way to tell if it is in correctly is, if you push it in again, it shoul pop about a third of the way out (obviously, you then need to push it back in to use it).
if it doesn't detect it, format it from your p900, if you're formatting it on a card reader, load up something like video app on your p900 with the formatted duo so it will create the folders
If all else fails try shutting down and restarting the phone with the duo in the slot. . .sometimes it just needs a "jolt".
thanks guys you're all great! its working now! 😊
