I am very careful with batteries (always have been). I always let them run out before giving them a full charge. I never give them a boost if they might be running low. But the nokia battery for the 6600 at first seems to be doing great. The bars don't diminish, and you think cool, this battery is gonna last a long time. BUT, as soon as one of the bars disappears the rest aren't too far behind. This is my second nokia 6600 (due to faulty MMS on last one) and this is consistent with both batteries. I don't do any gaming, I just set contacts up and take calls, and sync with pc ( does the nokia use more battery whilst idly connected to bluetooth on pc>?)..
On another note, I have the crystallized theme installed (it was a .sis) and I personally think it slows the phone down (or it could be because I have got a 256 mb mmc in)..
Thoughts?
I agree, just decided this week that I will have to purchase a second battery. But at 1st was put off because Nokia don't make a stand-alone desktop charger, I don't really want to keep swapping just to charge.

yeah bluetooth will use up battery power regardless of whether it is actually in use.

I have now turned off my bluetooth, and just turn it on when needed. I'll let you know if its any better.
Update:
Now heres an odd one.
I turn my phone off at night, and when I turn it back on, I find I have lost 2 more bars during the night. So I actually get longer life leaving the bladdy thing on!
The plot thickens. 😱
So how much battery life are you getting? I'm considering the 6600 as a possible next phone after my SPV and want a phone that lasts longer than 36 hours (which by the sounds of it is pretty good going for an SPV!).

The phone did not actually use up memory during the night.. it uses it up during startups! However,I'n mos cases, those two (or more) bars should come back after a while.. I kept the same battery that I had in my old 3650 and I notice at least 50% more lifetime on 6600 than on the 3650.. but,still.. it's far from the SonyEricssons capabilities.. 😞
i think that the phone uses quite a bit of battery starting up? 2 bars does seem like a lot, but if you think about the amount of things that a phone like the 6600 must go through at start up it is understandable. i suggest that if you're just turning it on in the morning you plug it in to do so if you are able to, or just plug it in at night,

i think it has something to do with some application. somebody sent me a "caribe" application and from then on the battery life of my fone was no even 12 hours i guess! any thoughts about it? tnx

Any way by which one can scan for viruses on this phone?
Hi,
I belive the Li-Ion batterys prefer to be topped up rather than compleatly discharged/recharged and they can only take a relativly small amount of compleat
discharge/recharge cycles before expiring. Thats might be the source of your problem?
Cheers

I have actually found that battery life has got better with the 6600...
but, the 6230, which uses the same battery, lasts even less!! 😮
What I noticed is that when I leave the phone idle (not really messing with it) it can last quite a while ( a couple of days or more) - granted its not as long as my older series 40s phones. But as soon as I start playing games or surfin the web, the battery will diminish really fast. Usually by the end of each day I have to recharge. Never had to do that with my older phones...
yeah i agree with u all this nokia 6600 battery does not last when u play games etc,I found that whenever I startup the phone the battery has gone down by 5%.I think that the startup plays a big role in consuming a large amount of battery charge, plus all applications which may be running in the background also adds up.
Does anyone have an idea about battery impedence? I think that the Li-ion battery also suffers from the same thing as other types of batteries.
lithium ion batteries does not have to be completely drained before charging. The fact is, lithium ion batteries do not like to be completely drained and it will be better to charge to batteries when its not on low. there is no or at the very least minimal memory effect on lithium ions. However it deteriates over time regardless of it being used or not... so maximize it!
the battery on the 6600 really is crap. last on average a day and a half to 2 days if used slightly and only one day if used heavily. having bluetooth on does drain the batteries more but not so significantly. phone still lasts 1 to 2 days having bluetooth on and connected with bluetooth headset.
