Phillips camcorder pro, looks VERY much like ETI camcorder but with .3gp video format 😊

Anyone played with it yet, hope it's a good quality as ETI, ETI don't seem to be supporting their program any longer as there has not been an update since it was released???

Only problem is Philips have not made a Trial version 😞

Anyone played with it yet?

Will

I just tried it on my 7650 and its really great, fullscreen playback on phone, loads of setings for player and coder but there is only one thing that bugs me,the price:19.95 😱

Thanks Ghostdog, where did you find that?
Spent ages last night looking for a trial version!

Cheers 😊

Will

:EDIT:
Oh, on handango - well they defo were no trials on there last night, must have put them up this morning 😊

Hey!
This program rocks!!

I've deleted ETI already and will be buying this -
full screen mode!
15 frames a second!
No time limit!

May be my excitment but even my old .3gp recorded with the built in recorder files appear to play back better in this!!

I'm using the pro version - another tenner!!! = 30 quid!

I might put the regular version on and see what the difference is..

Everybody must try this!! 😊

The trial is limited only the high quality,150 KB limit for the file size and it seems that the phone restart after a couple of records and playback.

Thank you for pointing out this software - it's bloody brilliant!! I can't believe how good the quality is at the highest frame rate, even with lots of action on screen.

On minor annoyance is still having to send videos individually to the PC via bluetooth but otherwise I've no complaints and will be buying it for my 3650.

My reg code will not work 😞
Reading on other forums many people have the same problem, written to Philips but had no reply yet - lets hope they reply before my 7day trial runs out!!

Anyone else got the same problem?

Also, how does this compaire with PacketVideo?

On my 7650, I can record Pro quality more than 150kb or no limit with trial version, because still within 7days trial period?

I find that video quality MPEG-4 is better than H263, what do u guys think?

I have a 'registered' version, but also the trial was been doing this bug. anyone else? is not as stable as i thought 😞

xhide,Are you saying that you can recorder in Pro quality and more then 150 KB in the trial?Mpeg4 records in higher res but H263 does better fps and smoother playback.

jojo,I don't think its a bug but a limitation of the trial version.

One the other hand,i could be very wrong.I recieved reports that users who bought it expirienced the restarting problem.

ive tried installing this on a 6600, when i try get it to record, all the phone controlls freeze up, but the camera picture updates, finally the phone will close the program

any help?

Yeah, i've tested recording more than 150kb in any quality, format or fps. I'm sure it is a trial version because i downloaded it from my-symbians.com site.

so far the only problem i got sometimes which is warning about not enough memory to record (forgot the exactly messege) eventhough i still have 1mb of space in my phone in my phone, maybe i was meant about my ram.

Yeah - I've seen the low memory warning too.
I think it's on about RAM as I have 70mb free disk space.

Also both times I had an active bluetooth connection to my headset open so I guess the bluetooth is zapping that little bit of RAM that the program wants.

Also I notice the PRO setting only allows recording in the lower res?
Which means once scalled up in size when played on full screen looks the same as the 'high' quality on the higher res - so whats the point of paying the extra tenner for the PRO version?

Is there anything else restricted in the standard version that makes the PRO version worth buying?

Will

for 7650 user, while recording or playing video don't close keypad otherwise philip camcorder pro willl get error and quit.

[edit] tested version 3.75 above matter has been fixed, not happened to me anymore.

I also sometimes get that "Not enough storage space is available to record!" error...

Basically after a phone reboot, evertying works, but if I try it at some otehr random time, I get the error.

I agree with Will that this is probably not referring to the MMC (which I have many megs of space available), but rather the RAM.

That type of thing happens to me now on other apps too. I've used Appmanager to try to streamline the amount of RAM I'm using but I can't figure out the best way to get that down, or why I have enough free after a reboot, but how it seems to "leak" or something.... Seems like it's a fine line keeping the most RAM available as you can.

Any suggestions on best ways to monitor and/or free it up?

I hope we can find a workaround, as this program does look very cool!!! Smooth video recording!

I have installed the philips camcoder on my 3650 (firmware v4.13). All features seem to work but only with a 1 to 2-second audio at the start and the rest have no audio. I have installed it to a 3660 and a 3650 with lower firmware version and they all have audio when recorded.

I have tried resetting my phone but still the same.

Can anyone enlighten me on this...Thanks in advance

But can this program fast forward? when watching long files i would like to be able to rewind and fast forward but this program dont seem to do that.

Are their any similar programs that can?

Hi to all!
I have the same problem with my nokia 3650. I have tried the latest version of camcoder pro, but there is always the same problem with audio.
What's the support website for this program?

Thx

Hey all...

New to this forum and so far, all u guys have sussed out all my problems execpt this current one that the 2 ppl above have asked. The Camcorder Pro goes mute after a second or so into the recording. It didnt use to do that until I changed the setting to 15 fps. So maybe that is the problem? I have uninstalled, and then reinstalled it around 3 times now but still the same problem... any solutions? It is beginning to frustrate me! 😡

Thanks for all the help in the past... and hopefully more in the future!

Hey Again guys... me again! just found out that it is my MMC card that is the problem. Please refer to this...

http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/forum//forum/thread/20366/

It has at least helped solved my problem... so hopefully u guys be able to seek some help from that!

Dont know why it is like that though... thought all MMC's are the same... the ones from Nokia seem to have some encryption coating or something... all I know between the one I bought and the one from Nokia... Nokia MMC - made in Japan, Dick Smith MMC - made in Taiwan. At least now I can go back and claim my AUD$90 back!

Cheers fellas

DC

hey guys the philips pro is a great software but heres the problem you can have either great quality picture and no sound (as described where sound cuts off) or ok quality picture and sound as i think the 3650 cant handle the load in top quality mode the highest u can run pro with sound is --settings . Video Format MPEG-4, Quality - Middle, Frame Rate - 10fps, Frame Size - ..im sure youll can figure it out ..what would be really nice is if some can fix this problem where we can have great picture with sound

I installed a registered version of camcoder pro on my 6600 while it should work provided I turn the audio off. The real time / preview image is displayed perfect but after recording all video comes out distorter, nomather what setting I use. Does anyone recognize this and know how to solve it? Thanks.

i have used camcoder pro latest version 3.75 or something.... but couldn't find it much useful, mere waste of money..captured video quality is poor than captured video quality of inbuilt video capturing software provided by nokia itself....n' no other advantage of camcoder...i use inbuilt cap software indeed... Try PhotoRite SP 5.1 software, its good for taking pictures n' modifying them the way you want....(sorry, not for video recording purpose)....but this software gives you 8X zoom, even if ur mobilecamera has only 2x-4x zoom limit...n' that is too, without losing much quality while zooming...camera fx, which fails to do.....
