Well, the illegal beta we saw a few months a go has finally materialised in a "real" app! Philips have finished their camcorder app, and it now also supports sound!
http://my-symbian.com/uiq/applications/applications.php?fldAuto=594&faq=4
There is no trial however, but I think many of you already tried it out😉 Also, it's not cheap at $29,95
well, there's a TRIAL now, I already downloaded it and gave it a shot! 😃
looks cool, but has no sound recording (guess cuz it's a trial version) but there's Audio option!😊
can you pls post here the address where can we get the trial version?
you just have to click on the word TRIAL (underlined) in my last post .. and it'll take u to the trail download page😉
and I justa want to add that it records Sound and u can save in different encodings, with different frame rates and sizes, it's actually cool, and everyone must try it, it even looks better than the P900 camcoder, exept that it hasn't the night vision feature😞
maybe it'll b added in the next update😃
DON'T BUY THIS SOFTWARE!!!!
Apparently the pro version is exactly the same as the trial version, the pro features only available for the 7650/3650 versions
this is really very very naughty!

is this true? can anyone verify this?
Btw, what's the limitation for the trial version, aside from no audio while recording?
Ive got this working fime, WITH audio recording on the trial. limitation are:
quality settings = low, med, high. Pro only avaliable with full version
file size limited to 150k
now all videos on my fone including .mp4s play using this player as default. dont know who to change it back.
clips recorded with the phone play fine with audio
but... clips converted from a pc and beamed to phone play with no audio.
any ideas why? or what setting do i need to have.
this new player plays alot smoother (fps) that default one and Is defo worth a try. If only i could get the audio working with my transferd movies.
cheers.
Did someone tried to contact Philips and see if by registering you get the Pro encoding on P800?

Has anyone experienced same battery (draining) problem with this new release?
I don't see any battery drainage problem and the audio is working fine.
However, is that true that the selling version is the same as the trial. It would be very very bad if we buy something that can only record 15 secs

There is a big thread on my-symbian on the subject, apparently,a large percent of the people who bought the sofware got non-working keys: http://my-symbian.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12690
ghostdog is right. check that thread on my-symbian before parting with your hard earned $29.95.
sad to say i'm one of the unfortunate victims. i paid $29.95 for which i'm unable to register due to a "wrongly" generated key. after many emails to philips and handango i have given up. my trial version has stopped working after 7 days. so the logical course of action left for me was to apply for a refund which i did today.
btw, if you still insists on paying $29.95 for this sw you won't get unlimted file size and pro quality on the registered version. trial version and registered version are the same except the trial stops functioning in 7 days. and here's the kicker, nokia owners gets the pro version with unlimited file size and pro quality at the same price, $29.95!
Hey -
been reading the posts on this site since I got my p800 a few months back, hoping that I wouldn't have a problem with which to bother you all... but here we are!
I've just dowloaded the trial Philips Camcorder to my P800... but when I click 'Install' I get an error saying that I must first have "eCamCompatibility version 1.0" installed! What's that then? Any idea? Be great if you could help!
Is it cos my firmware needs an upgrade?
Phone : R1D
- I can't find anywhere near me who can upgrade it... and am a bit reluctant to do it too! Bit scary considering some of the problems people seem to have had.
Also...
<u>Point number 2!</u>
I have a 128mb card and have had various pictures, music, video etc on there... I deleted most things, except for a few apps and I have just 22mb left? I don't seem to be able to find what's clogging it up using Tracker's File Manager...
Anyway - cheers, hope someone can answer one or all of my queries!!!
p.s. I'm new to this... so go easy ok?
😉
Ta!

Thought that might be it... thanks for your help, next step is to find somewhere that'll do it for free without having to take my phone off of me and totally messing it up!
😉
Actually, just HOW out of date is my firmware?

R1D is about 12 months. The main changes between that and the latest are a special "Night-mode" on the camera, the ability to the mute the shutter sound and full-screen mode for video's I think.
As you're in the UK you can take it to a carphone warehouse. They'll update it in about an hour (but back it up before you go!).
