hi. my 7650 crashed on christmas day. i was takin pictures and then the message "phone memory low delete data" appeared. i was about to delete, but i received a couple of text messages. after that i can't open any application anymore. it kept sayin memory too low to open so i wasn't able to delete anything. so i shut it off but when i turned it back on, it won't turn on. it stops at the loading NOKIA screen. even if i wait forever it stays on that screen. now i try to do the *#7370# on the loading screen but nothin happens. can someone help me? i'd like to get my phone fixed again please.

happy new year

I have had exactly the same crash , as i was taking some photos for christmas!
And up to now, i have not been able to make it working.
Is there any solution, (without loosing datas)

I just called this fuckin careline : They told me to upgrade the firmware... the Tech center is about one hour from my house, and i will loose all my datra because of the fucking pc suite wich is unable to work fine with my phone...

Nokia: never again...

Hi,

I hate to say it but Nokia are right, the firmware needs updating. This was a problem found and solved long ago now with the 7650's and after a few more firmware upgrades appeared also.

One other thing to try is boot in safe mode. Sometimes it works, other times it doesn't, but it's worth a try.

Turn off the phone and restart while pressing and olding down the 'ABC' key, keep it pressed until the phone gets to the normal run screen. Assuming it does it may get you enough time to delete some stuff, then backup before taking it to the NSC.

Hope it may help,

Ian

You're using a VERY OLD 7650 firmware (v3.12). This features the problem where you can run out of space so the OS cannot boot. This is the problem you have.

Nokia did fix this problem in firmware 3.16. I upgraded my 7650 from v3.12 to v3.16 last Christmas Eve (2002) - this shows how long the problem has been solved!

The firmware is now v5.06, so by going to the NSC you will get the latest firmware which fixes more problems you could have experienced if you had stuck with v3.12.

The safe mode don't work for me.
And i have never made any backup!!!!
I am very angry against nokia! I bought my phone in November and they gave me the first old and buggy firmware.

Hey,

Everyone had this problem I'm afraid if they brought the 7650 as soon as.

I was lucky, getting V3.16 then going to V3.39 and had no hassle.

It's a pain in the b------s I know.

I am back from the Nokia technical center, and they was not able to update the firmware ... So they had to send back the phone to Nokia...
😞 I will have to wait about 2 weeks!

I have just got back my 7650... with firmware 5.06 dated from 2/06/2003.
What's new in this firmware ???

Lots of fixes 'behind the scenes'

The over filling bug is fixed
Couple of new icons (eg about)
The Log (press the green button) should be a lot faster
Other general speed improvements

Apart from that a lot of other internal things that you'll never notice.

Greetings everyone.

i have returned to this forum after a lapse of about a year.. nice to still see *some* familiar names... and many new ones !

well, i'm also on firmware (v3.12) .. and this same problem happened to me.

i get the message "Phone Start-up failed. Contact the retailer"

problem is, the warranty expired and so i have to pay for it.

went to some shop and tried to get it repaired.

they told me that after trying to flash the phone, it still doesn't work. they said that there was some problem with the IC itself.

!! is that even possible? is this right ?? running out of memory and now damaging the IC ?? Hardware?? i really don't know what to do

so anyway, the whole cost of getting this phone up and running again is going to be in excess of AUD$150-00

i find that ridiculous. after spending so much on software etc.. is there a way for me to save the 7650 ? i don't really want to spend so much more just to repair it. worst scenario is i just chuck it out (the window)

i've tried resetting it constantly *#7370# etc many times over and nothing happens.

<sob>

I stay in Thailand and have same problem as all of you (start fail Pls contact retailer) so I went to Nokia Care(27 april 2004). They update firmware to 4.46. I test my phone at Nokia care(Call in-out, take photo),it's OK but when I go home and try to send file from PC to phone by IR port. The same problem has appear again. I search in Web and found that the latest firmware is 5.06 why they don't use this version for me, so I download this version(5.06) and go to Nokia again and tell them about this, they said they only have 4.46 and do not use my 5.06(not warranty). They only say my phone will send to Nokia center and fixed about 10 days. I don't have time to wait so I ask them to flash 4.46 again and test phone by myself.Now(28 april 2004) I cannot save any files in my phone because the same problem will appear again. Anyone can help me about this.
