Hi guys, I have this really wierd SMS problem on my P900 where when i try to send an SMS i repeatedly get up this pop-up window which asks me to setup the service centre number in the control panel under the messaging tab. Ok funny thing is that the service centre number is already there and i have never changed it. This problem only started since the past 2 days after i started using the Desktop Message.
I did a master reset and evrything seemed to work fine. But once i restored my old backup the same problem came up. Anyone have any ideas as to wot it cud be?
Cheers,
Doc.
I cant beleive it, I just got the same problem just now! So im going to uninstall desktop message.. But I think the damage has been done.. Too late to make a backup because im sure desktop message has corrupted our SMS file system.. Does anyone know which one is it so I can open an old backup and replace it with such?
Heres whats happening to mine:
1.) I can no longer send sms through my phone since I get the enter the service center number message even if the service center number is already there.
2.) When I recieve a message I get them twice and I can delete them through the phone.
3.) I can send SMS using the Desktop message application on my PC
4.) Ican also delete the messages using the Desktop message application on my PC!
Grrrrr! PLease help anyone before I reinstall everything!
it damaged my sms too, it deleted my sms folder so i couldn't select it in the messages (where you select like, mms, email, create new etc), i used sms manager to backup my sms and then reformatted
Whats SMS manager? Is it a Desktop Application too? At first Desktop Manager too ruined my SMS icon and changed it into the MMS Icon.. When I restarted my phone, it came back, but everytime I recieved an SMS it doubled and I couldnt delete it or reply to any message.. The only way I could reply or send SMS was through the Desktop Program where everything seemed to be normal.. I think it destroyed the file structure of the of the phone..
yup, all my sms too, doubled, sms manager is a program that allows you to back up your sms
hmm ill look into that ap 😊 Can you post me to a link where we can buy it? 😊
Does the desktop counterpart allow you to send, read and make messages through the PC while your phone is connected to the PC via IR, bluetooth or cradle/cable? 😊
nahh, that you'll need desktop sms,,,,the program that will help you lose all your sms folders.

Hahahaha! Well I went ahead and bought it 😊I noticed that you back your files through an XML file right? Can you also import these files? Still trying the ap out, just made my folders for auto SMS 😊
it doensn't let you import them,,, well if you exported them, uhh, say if you kept them in the path it kept your sms in, it's then saved a different way to your normal sms, as it's then an xml file, and not a symbian we will make your sms folders dissapear file, so idon't think you can import them, you can import folders though say if you backed it up, , actually, i've not tried restoring an xml, try like, exporting to xml, then on your comp, change one of the messages, then return it to the path it exported to, then see if their's a way to import it and see if the message has changed, i don't know, 😕
Hmm.. ive noticed that when you create a folder for a person, everytime you receive a message from that person while flip is closed, you cannt read it anymore.. it doesnt appear on your inbox, nor can you see the folder you created for that person.. Im finding this quite annoying, since I do most text messages while flip is closed 😞
oh, then this app probably isn't ideal, it diverts sms to it's own folders, which means it will be unreadable by the 900's default sms viewer, but there is no way of changing the default viewer
Dang.. and to think I bought the ap right away.. what was I thinking? another desperation, impulsive purchase 😞
you should have trialed it first,
Interesting thread...I have been using this program with no problems so far...However, I am now a bit nervous to continue!!
Has anyone managed to use with no problems??
Cheers
Nick
when i first heard of desktop sms, i thought it was really good, and had to get it straight away, but then when i had this huge problem, i've not used it since, i would recommend a full backup nightly if you do continue to use it incase it kills your phone
