Hi guys,
I know there seems to be a lot of posts on here regarding Bluetooth, but I thought I'd put my response in a new thread, rather than replying to about 10 different posts.
I bought a 3Com Bluetooth dongle last year when I had my 7650. It worked first time out of the box, and the only issue I had connecting up my phone was a problem with the 7650's version of PC Suite, which was sorted by copying an old version of one of the component .dll's.
When I got my 6600, I noticed straight away that the 6600's version of PC Suite was working first time, therefore Nokia have done what they promised and resolved the serial port bluetooth connection issue.
I often wonder when reading all these posts whether it's peoples bluetooth set up that is the problem or whether it's PC Suite, because, let's face it, PC Suite has never been the most reliable piece of kit 🙄
My 3Com bluetooth dongle did cost a little more than the others out there, and I wonder if maybe the quality might be a little better ? That's pure speculation of course, but worth considering.
When it comes down to it, Bluetooth is a classic example of a "common" format. Even though there is an agreed format and implementation for the Bluetooth protocol, many manufacturers still interpret it their own way. Just because it says "Bluetooth" on the box, doesn't mean it can do everything "Bluetooth" says it can....remember the 7650's lack of the Bluetooth Audio Protocol ?
And all this talk of using your mobile's for internet access on your PC via Bluetooth ? Surely it is cheaper and more cost effective to use WiFi ?
Oh well, that's my two cents 😊
Rob.
