Trendy Childrens Names

17 replies · 4,379 views · Started 05 January 2004

In this not to serious Silicon.com article it says that there is a new trend of naming children after products. These tended to be based on old established brand such as these cars Chevy, Camry and Dodge being used for boys names. However it was suggested that more current names may start being used, such as Siemens, Panasonic, Symbian and Pentium.

Would you name you child Symbian? After all it suggests the product of a joint co-operation 😃

Feeling bad for the child that has to go thru life with the last name Chip and first name Pentium. What will be next Rover as the last name and Mars for the first name.

I think as time goes on it wont matter that these are to us technology related words - as long as the name isnt still associated to the product I would probably be more worried if people started using some of the many thousands of technology related Abbreviations for example:

DVD+R
TCPIP
MSN
AOL
MMC
SD

they have a certain ring to them, but who am I to comment with a name like mine. haha!

pasa.com used to belong to "people against spousal abuse"

Vikki is on the couch, three months pregnant, and she's quakeing with fear on this topic for some reason.

so what will it be - I think WAP 2 is pretty desirable but you dont want a common name as the baby gets older - perhaps something slightly retro like MS-Dos

😃 call one of the Linux and the other windows... so see which one will beat the other 😊

I know an accountant who "lives" in MS Excel.

His first child was called "Max", the second is "Min".
We expect the third to be called "Mean" or "Avg", but
"Sumif" is still on the cards.

BTW. This is true.

ouch! go and stand in the corner, both of you!

this baby will have a nice, sensible Gaelic name just like his/her big sister 😛

Gabach? That's nice and gaelic?

Yes! and come to think of it Symbian might make quite a good gaelic sounding surname.

Gabach McSymbian

You can just smell the heather 😉

We are NOT calling this baby Gabhach. I don't care if it means danger.

That is my final word on the subject. I'm the woman, so there 😛

Well thats a shame Ewan suggested Gabach not Gabhach. I much prefer Gabhach it trips off the tounge much easier. So what does Gabach mean?
