MacOS X and Nokia 6600

I received a shiny new Nokia 6600 for Xmas as welcome replacement for my malfunctioning Nokia 8610. I am having a few problems with the phone, however:

- I am yet to find a way to get the photos/videos of the phone onto my PowerBook G4 running OS X 10.3. iSync does not support 6600, yet, but it should be in there shortly since N-Gage works flawlesly with iSync. Regardless, I have little interest in syncing the two since all I want is to be able to download photos/videos and upload themes/photos/applications.

- Inserting MMC card into my 6-in-1 card reader didn't work.

- In my infinite wisdom and haste, I formatted the MMC card that was in the phone. I don't miss most of the rubbish that got rid off, but a few programs that can be restored easily since they were in Try&Buy section anyways. Of course, provided I can find a way to upload applications to my 6600.

I would appreciate any suggestions and/or comments.

Thanks.

Hi,

there is a Bluetooth utility which belongs to OS X, it is located in the Utility folder, with this tool you can install software on the 6600.

For the sync with isync you have to modify some files, there is also a thread in this forum about this.

Hi there,

I run OS X 10.3 on Power Macs (a G4 and a G5), and although I couldn't get iSync to work (even after trying the hacks), I've had no trouble at all transferring files via bluetooth.

Not sure where you're located, but I'm in the UK and I bought a Belkin Bluetooth USB Adapter for less than 30 from dabs.com.

Just activate Bluetooth on your 6600, plug the USB adapter in to your Mac, open System Preferences / Bluetooth, and you should be able to pair your 6600 with your Mac and start transferring files using the icon in your menu bar.

I too have deleted most of the stuff that was on the MMC card - it seemed to be mostly demos of overpriced apps anyway.

You need to run the "Repair Permissions" function in disk utilty after you apply the isync hacks. Then remove the device from the list, then re-pair it with your laptop.

Then it works like a champ.

I have had my nokia 6600 now for about 4 days, and have been transfering video, images, gameboy games, wav ring tones back and forth from my g4 laptop with a belkin BT adaptor. It rocks by the way

you can set file endings like .sis to be opened with blue tooth file transfer utlity, so you can click on them and have them transfer. You can also use command-shift-b on a file to send it.

if you have any questions, send me an email,

good luck,
