I have set up my 6600 with the o2 gprs and works fine. I can go online to view wap sites and also use it in opera to go on the net (www) but the problem is when I try to use GPRS connection for my email account it won't work. I have to use a standard freeserve dial up account. Any ideas?
email via gprs?
Please elaborate on "it won't work" as it is a bit vague problem description.
What, exactly, is happening?
What steps do you take to connect?
What are your internet access point settings?
What are your email account settings (don't post any actual usernames/passwords, though)?
What error messages are displayed?
you need to be connected to freeserves ISP to send mail through their servers - it's the same as ALL isp's.
When you connect on GPRS you are not using their ISP so they will stop you connecting.
You need to find an open mailserver which you can 'relay' your outgoing mail thru
Most Networks now have one for you to use.
T-mobile is: 209.228.37.13, Voda lets you use their Vissavi mail server so I'm sure O2 has one you can use.
Try searching around on their website. You can try phoneing but I doubt the guy on the end of the phone will have a clue what you are on about 😉

EDIT:
Here you go, set your outgoing mailserver to: smtp.o2.co.uk leave all the other settings as they are.
Good luck 😊
I only use freeserve simply to dial to an isp. I have my own server for email (.com) so it's not an issue of which isp to dial out rather than the gprs connection whether it can handle internet data?
If I use the o2 smt to send emails out that solves half of the problem. How do I collect mine from my server?
Are you using GPRS WAP or GPRS INTERNET to make your connection..
Connection name O2 Internet
Data bearer GPRS
Access point name mobile.o2.co.uk
User name username
Password password
Phone Authentication Normal
Phone IP address Dynamic
Primary name server 193.113.200.200
Second. name server 193.113.200.201
