Screen cracked problem

3 replies · 3,105 views · Started 07 January 2004

About a week after I bought my 6600 I noticed a crack on the screen. However, it was on the INSIDE of the plastic! I took it back to the carphone warehouse and told them I didn't drop the phone, but they refused to fix it. Instead they gave me a Nokia number to call.

I did so, but it turns out I have to join Club Nokia, and have my details given away to anyone Nokia fancy, or alternatively call a line that charges 75p per minute... So much for customer service,eh?

Anyway, anyone had a screen fixed? If so can you advise where to get it done, and how much it cost?

Thanks

no, but i have been a member of club nokia for about 4years, and the just send me an advertisement sms text message every few weeks, which you can disable on there website along with postal, e-mail and mms adverts.
you also get a credit card style like club nokia id thing through the post with your number on it, which you enter into your phone to submit your high scores on snake2, don't think you can do that on 6600 though.
(btw, i was rank 80 on snake2 😎 )

You don't have to be a Club Nokia member to get a warranty repair done. Find out where your nearest Nokia Service Centre is and take the phone there with your receipt. They will fix it there for you.
My old 8210 had to have the screen replaced about 4 times in it's 1st year and my local NSC did it every time, free of charge, and within about 10 minutes, while-u-wait.
My 7650 had to go back also a few times, and they sorted this out too, while I waited about 30 mins.

Finally, Club Nokia is a good thing to join, and like Dale says, you only get an email every month or so....that's it.

Virtually all phone retailers suck when it comes to honouring warranties, unless you spend stupid money on their insurance cover. Just go direct to your local NSC.

I will just say tho' that cracked screens are a sticky point because they usually only crack after an impact. I'm not suggesting that that is what happened to yours, but they will always look at it that way. If the phone HAD been dropped, it would probably show damage elsewhere.

Good Luck,

Rob.
