I have been having all the same problems with the 6600 and my imac. I'll try all your suggestions tonight and let you know. Annoying thing is it works perfectly with PC Suite I have at work and syncs well with Outlook. Any news from Nokia that they will support macs?
The Isync saga!
It won't be Nokia supporting Macs for iSync to work, but the other way around.
Apple will need to make changes to iSync to enable the 6600 to work with their program.
Keep checking this page http://www.apple.com/isync/devices.html as since I last checked they have added the 3600 and N-Gage, so I am sure it won't be long.

I 've done all the textedit options as other people have suggested and still won't sync. Finds the phone though. Also I cant seem to download of your link, can you email the file to me?
