orange problems and key pad lock

11 replies · 4,911 views · Started 08 January 2004

i have recently got a 6600 on orange and have a no of issues:
1) when the key pad is locked and i have an incomming call the on/off switch and numeric pad becomes activated enabling accidental switching off the phone easy - does any one else have this??? can someone test this and let me know please!

2) no opera installed, I know i can download it - is it worth it, can you recommend a bluetooth/use cable for the PC to download software

3) no call divert or call waiting options, i know this has been discussed before but there seems to be no clear concensus - is it available

4) where is the best place to download ringtones, games and apps for the 6600

thanks

1) Not sure about that, as i haven't tried it..but perhaps u have anwser anykey on. Have u tried with that off?

2) Opera is ok, but i find the wap browser to be useful as well. Just depends on what you like

3) The best keep secret at Orange 😊 It appears to be a software glitch. I have spoken to technical staff @ Orange and have been told that they are testing the firmware patch that nokia supplied as it may have been lost in that. Orange DO support call waiting, and its only an issue with the 6600.. As someone else posted, u can manually sent the gsm codes to the network, its just the simple menu you dont have. If they fix it *shrugs*

4) I find www.ringtone.net very good

Hope this helps,

Paul C

How else would you expect to be able to answer the call, if the keypad doesn't work ? Answers on a postcard please 😃

lol @ technik
anyways jim cant help you other than get a usb msi bluetooth dongle i got mine from ebuy 20 quid and its got loads of great reviews over lots of devices includeing the 6600 better than usb your phone doesnt have to be near the pc within 10 to 15 meters will work fine 😊 although u will probably have it next to you while on your pc 😊

i thought that when you had an incomming call with keypad lock on the only keys to be activated were the answer, reject keys take it this is not the case?

1. Anykey answer on will enable the FULL keypad when the phone rings and pressing ANY key except RED will answer it. Turning anykey answer off will only enable RED and GREEN when the phone rings and shouldn't effeect any other keys.

2. I gave Opera a quick try but I personally prefer Net-Front. I cant get my Epox dongle working even though it works fine with my 7650 so no help here sorry.

3. My Orange 6600 (3.49.1) has call waiting, call divert and line 1/2 menus already on it (But it would seem they only appeared once I did a *#7370# format and restored the phones factory settings)

4. A good site for ringtones is www.mididb.com (which as far as I know is a legal site - Mods???) - The other place which EVERYONE seems to miss is Google! Simply type the name of a song + the word MIDI - Finding the tones you want shouldnt be a problem!

this doesnt happen on my phone, when anykey answer is off. any incomming call activates all keys red and green allow you to answer the call or reject it but the number keys are activated and so is the on/off button
does anyone else have this???
or do i have a faulty handset???

Same as Hektik, I have Call Waiting, Call Divert and Line 1/2 menus after doing a full reset of the phone. Just remember that you will lose all contact details, etc unless you save somewhere first!

They (Orange) have also locked down the "Go To" menu - the whole point of which is that you should be able to customise it!!!
