If you are registered with one of the websites that allow you to send free SMS, then yes it is perfectly possible.

What do u mean by registred? And about what websites u talking.Cause if i have to go to a website(from my phone) than i do a lot of transfer and it's not worth to send a sms like that.
Thanks

seems like a lot of hassle to go to a site then send a message
is there anything like the old icq that used to send messages for free from your pc that would be great and no need to surf over your gprs till u get to the site
although u could just bookmark the page where u enter the text on the site i suppose 😊

try

SmsXtender - need to pay 0.07 euro per msg

SMSXtender by Simeda allows you to send SMS messages to destinations all over the world for just 0.07 EUR/message. It also allows you to "tweak" your SMS messages in ways that are impossible from a regular phone:
* you can alter the phone number that the message appears to have come from
* you can set an alphanumeric sender id (a name)
* you can send Flash SMS messages that are instantly displayed on the receiver's phone.

or

Sms Send - Free

SMSSend is used for sending SMS messages over GPRS, HSCSD or CSD. SMS is sent over internet using ICQ network. If you use GPRS you only have to pay for the data, which is sent to web server. This is usually below 1kB; witch is usually much cheaper than sending an SMS in a normal way.

The problem is i also pay 0.07$/sms to my carier.
So the only choice is over Icq but it isn't supported in my country (Romania)

try sending an email to the icq support they might put some effort into finding a network to carry your sms they may not even bother if it is just requested by one person tho 😞 u could atleast find out if they have plans to support it

try a program called fast chat I think it is. It allows continuous MSN, ICQ, Yahoo AOL chat and SMS sending conversations all through GPRS - you can also make voice message over GPRS - which mean that if someone in the states has one you can have a make shift phone call with someone in the states for cheaper than sending a standard SMS....

Maybe u can post the EXACT name of the prorgram or even better a link to where i can dowload (buy).
Thanks

Here is a link to the symbian version...

here

One thing I seem to remember when I had the trial was it was great because I could send images from my phone to an MSN user which is something that other ones dont have - and I guess now I could send any sort of file.

Dont know if it is comfirmed to work on 6600 yet but there are many other similar programs which do these things here
